  • SpeakerCraft Dual IR Emitter with Visible LED (IRE-4.0) — Installation Instructions

SpeakerCraft Dual IR Emitter with Visible LED (IRE-4.0)

    Full text manual (for reference)

Installation instructions for the SpeakerCraft IRE-4.0 Dual IR Emitter with Visible LED, part of the SmartPath™ product line, featuring dual EZ-Docker™ ports for instant emitter removal.

    Overview

The IRE-4.0 is the dual-emitter version of the IRE-3.0. It features a unique EZ-Docker™ plate that permits instant removal of either emitter when rearranging or servicing components, and flashes visible red when emitting IR control signals. Like the IRE-3.0, it has 75% lower IR output than non-visible emitters, so it should be used when controlling multi-zone components to avoid cross-zone interaction. An improved adhesive reduces callbacks for reattaching "fallen emitters."

    Attachment Steps

    1. Locate the component's IR sensor window and thoroughly clean it of fingerprints or grease.
    2. Peel the protective layer off the EZ-Docker™ port's clear adhesive bottom surface.
    3. Orient the port vertically and press it over the center of the sensor window; hold for several seconds to ensure maximum adhesive contact.
    4. Slide the emitter from the top down into the EZ-Docker™ port until it snaps into place. (To remove at any time, push upward until it pops out.)
    5. Insert the 3.5mm plug into an Emitter jack on a SpeakerCraft Terminator or other IR source.

    Important Cautions & Notes

    • Caution: Do not plug into an emitter jack set to Blaster Power (BL ON) or the HIGH OUT of other connecting blocks — doing so will smoke the emitters.
    • If you have difficulty finding the component's IR sensor, try a flashlight or consult the owner's manual, or contact the manufacturer directly.
    • You can attach the emitter without the EZ-Docker™ port — use one of the included spare adhesives applied directly to the emitter's shell.
    • To remove and reposition a previously-stuck EZ-Docker™ port or emitter, use a fresh included adhesive before reattaching.
    • Note: the two emitters on the IRE-4.0 are wired in series — if you cut one off, you must short the cut-off wires together for the remaining emitter to operate.
    • The emitter shell and EZ-Docker™ port, though dark in appearance, are transparent to infrared — this allows local hand-held remote control to pass through in addition to signals from the IRE-4.0.

    Typical Installation

A typical multi-room setup routes emitters from a shelf-top IR receiver (e.g., IRC-3.0) through an Amplified Terminator Unit (AT-1.0), powered by a PS-1.0 (120V AC unswitched power supply), with dual IRE-4.0 emitters attached to components that need two IR paths (e.g., separate A/V receiver zones), plus a single IRE-1.0 for satellite receivers or VCRs elsewhere in the rack.
