SkylinkHome SK8 — Wireless 3 Way On/Off Kit Installation Instructions

Overview

The SkylinkHome™ Wireless 3 Way On/Off Kit, model SK8, lets you replace an existing wall switch with the Skylink Wall Switch Receiver, and mount the Wireless Wall Switch Transmitter anywhere you'd like to control your lighting — no new wiring required for the transmitter.

Technical Specifications

The Wall Switch is designed for a maximum load of 1000W at 120VAC. Do not cut the antenna.

Section 1 — Setting Up the Wall Switch Receiver

1. Turn off power at the circuit breaker for the circuit being installed. Failure to do so can result in severe or fatal electrical shock.
2. Loosen the screws on the wall plate cover of the Wall Switch receiver and remove it.
3. Install the Wall Switch with the 3 wires — Live, Load, and Ground. Use the provided wire nuts (C) to connect these respectively to the existing wall wires. Neutral wire is not required and cannot be connected to the Wall Switch Receiver (see Wiring Diagram below for handling extra neutral wires).
4. Ensure all wire connectors are attached securely with no exposed copper wiring, then secure the Wall Switch with screws.
5. Turn the circuit breaker back on.
6. The two blue LEDs will turn on. If they remain off, check the light bulb installation/position and wire connections.
7. After installation, press the Switch Button to turn the lights on and off.

If you have an existing 3-Way Switch, disable one switch and replace the other with the Wall Switch Receiver.

Section 2 — Setting Up the Wireless Wall Switch Transmitter

The Wireless Wall Switch Transmitter ships with a lithium battery already installed — remove the battery isolator tag before installing.

Installing with Double-Sided Tape

1. Clean the wall surface where you plan to install the transmitter.
2. Place the two foam tapes (E) on the back of the transmitter plate.
3. Peel off the foam tape cover and stick it to the wall surface.

Installing with Screws — Existing Wall Switch

1. Loosen the screws on the wall plate of the transmitter and tighten the two included screws (D) on the back plate to the existing wall box.
2. Tighten the two screws on the wall plate to the back plate to secure it.
3. The transmitter is now ready to be controlled.

Installing on New Wall Surface

1. Drill two small pilot holes based on the mounting screw positions and insert the anchors (D) before tightening the back plate with screws (D).
2. Tighten the two screws on the wall plate to the back plate to secure it.
3. The transmitter is now ready to be controlled.

Section 3 — Operation

• Wall Switch Receiver: Press the Switch Button once to turn the light on, press once more to turn it off.
• Wireless Wall Switch Transmitter: Push the wall switch pad from one position to the other to turn the light on and off.

Section 4 — Programming

Before programming, remove the transmitter's wall plate by loosening the screws. Use a sharp non-conductive object (pen or pencil) to press the learn button.

1. Press the Switch Button on the Wall Switch receiver to turn the lights on. The two blue LEDs should go off.
2. Press and hold the learn button for about 3 seconds until the upper blue LED flashes quickly, then release.
3. Press the learn button on the transmitter. The red LED stays on for 15 seconds.
4. Press the pad (switch) on the transmitter — the red LED flashes and goes off, and the upper blue LED on the receiver also turns off.
5. Both switches are now programmed.

Section 5 — Erasing

Note: all previously programmed devices will be erased — re-program any devices you want to keep. Use a sharp non-conductive object to press the learn button.

1. Press the Switch Button on the receiver to turn the lights on. The two blue LEDs should go off.
2. Transmit an "Erase" code from the transmitter (refer to your transmitter's instructions for how to do this).
3. Press and hold the learn button for about 3 seconds until the upper blue LED flashes.
4. Release the learn button.
5. All devices have now been successfully erased.

Section 6 — Enable/Disable On/Off Mode

On/Off Mode simply turns the lights on/off.

1. Turn the light on with the programmed transmitter or Switch Button.
2. Press and hold the learn button on the receiver for about 3 seconds until the upper blue LED flashes quickly.
3. Release the learn button. The receiver is now in On/Off Mode.

Section 7 — Countdown Timer Mode

When activated, the light connected to the receiver will flash for a predetermined interval and then turn off. Complete the programming sequence within 15 seconds, or the receiver will exit programming mode. Use a sharp non-conductive object to press the learn button.

1. Hold the learn button on the receiver for about 10 seconds, until the upper blue LED is on steadily, then release.
2. Press the learn button on your transmitter — the red LED will be on for 15 seconds.
3. Once programmed, both blue LEDs will flash quickly and stop.
4. The transmitter has been successfully programmed. Proceed to Section 8 to set the timer duration.

Once programmed, activating the transmitter turns the lights on for the set duration. To stop a countdown early, press a programmed button for regular mode. Note: if the receiver gets another timer signal during a countdown, the timer restarts and extends the ON period by another interval.

Section 8 — Setting a Timer Duration

For transmitters programmed to Countdown Timer Mode. Available durations: 1, 5, 15, 30, or 60 minutes.

1. The connected light must be off, and the two blue LEDs should be on.
2. Press and hold the learn button for 3 seconds until the lower blue LED flashes once (number of flashes = timer duration).
3. Continue holding the learn button — the setting changes every 6 seconds (1 flash → 2 flashes → 3, etc.).

Once at 5 flashes it will stay at that setting; to change to a lower setting (e.g. 1 minute), release and repeat from step 1.

Section 9 — Replacing the Battery

1. Remove the wall plate from the transmitter by loosening the two screws.
2. Slide out the existing battery.
3. Insert the new CR2032 battery, positive side up, sliding it in and pushing down to lock into place.
4. The red LED will light for one second when the battery is properly installed.

Section 10 — Wiring Diagram Notes

Wire colors may vary in the junction box. If there are white (neutral) wires in the wall box, connect the white wire with a wire nut — only connect the Load and Live wires from the wall box to the Wall Switch Receiver. Neutral is not used by the receiver.
