Setting or Changing the Lock Code

Each lock ships with a random factory code printed on the included code card. The code is easily changed with the provided tumblers and tweezers:

1. From the back of the exterior assembly, remove the 4 red lock code plate retaining screws.
2. The factory setting uses 5 red active lock code tumblers, 8 blue inactive tumblers, and 1 code-clearing tumbler in the "C" position. Never remove the code-clearing tumbler from the "C" position.
3. Determine the desired code and write it down. Red tumblers represent the code digits; blue tumblers represent digits not part of the code.
4. While pressing and holding the "C" button, use the tweezers to remove tumblers as needed for your desired code.
5. While continuing to hold "C", insert the appropriate colored tumblers so the side with one square cut faces outward.
6. Replace the lock code plate and secure it with the 4 red screws.
7. Test the code before installing: press "C" (Clear), then the chosen code, then move the handle to confirm it unlocks.

Important: Press and hold the "C" button throughout the code-changing process — failure to do so can damage the lock code module. The code is not sequential, so digits can be entered in any order (e.g., code 135Y also unlocks as Y135, 513Y, or 3Y51).

Installation Overview

1. Determine Door Handedness

Facing the door from outside: hinge on your right = right-handed door; hinge on your left = left-handed door. The interior lock assembly ships set for right-handed doors; the exterior assembly ships set for left-handed doors. Only the interior assembly typically needs adjustment.

2. Prepare the Door and Install the Latchbolt

1. Fold the included template on the dotted line, align the "Latch center line" mark with the strike plate's center line when the door is closed, and tape in place.
2. Drill six 3/8" (10mm) holes as shown on the template.
3. From the latch edge, mark the horizontal center point and drill a 1" (25mm) hole to a depth of 3-3/4" (95mm).
4. Chisel the 4 horizontally-aligned 3/8" holes into a single slot.
5. Insert the latch and mark around the faceplate for a recessed area so the faceplate sits flush.
6. Chisel a 1/8" (3mm) deep recess as marked, then re-insert the latch assembly, orienting the curved latchbolt correctly for the door's swing, and secure with 2 wood screws.

3. Position the Spindle

Choose the spindle matching door thickness: 2-15/16" (75mm) for doors under 1-7/16" (37mm); 3-3/8" (85mm) for doors 1-7/16"–1-15/16" (37–50mm); 3-15/16" (100mm) for thicker doors. Position the spindle through the latch hub per the correct handing orientation.

4. Mount the Lock

1. Select screws by door thickness (1-7/16"/36mm screws for doors under 1-7/8"/48mm).
2. Fit neoprene seals to both handle assemblies.
3. Screw the hexagonal mounting posts onto the exterior handle assembly.
4. Hold the exterior assembly on the door with the spindle in place, ensuring the latchbolt support post engages the latchbolt assembly hole.
5. Hold the interior assembly in place on the inside so the spindle seats in its hub.
6. Screw both sides together with the top and bottom machine screws — do not over-tighten (can cause poor operation or damage).
7. Verify the lock is vertical before final tightening, then test operation.
8. For right-handed doors, rotate the exterior lever to change its handing (it's fitted with a clutch to prevent forced-entry damage).
9. Check that the set code unlocks the door before closing it, to avoid being locked out.

5. Install the Strike Plate

1. Partially close the door and mark where the latchbolt contacts the frame.
2. With the door closed, measure the door-latch-line distance from the latch to the frame edge, then mark this line on the open frame.
3. Use the strike plate as a template to mark its outer edges, inner hole, and screw holes.
4. Chisel a 1/16" (1mm) deep recess so the strike plate sits flush.
5. Use the strike dust box as a template to mark, drill, and chisel the latchbolt hole to at least 1/2" (13mm) deep.
6. Insert the strike dust box and strike plate, secure with the provided wood screws.
7. Test that the door closes easily, the latchbolt seats securely, and the deadlatch does not enter the strike plate aperture (reposition the strike plate if it does).

User Operation

To unlock:

1. Press "C" (clear) to ensure no keys are already pressed.
2. Press each key in the lock code, in any order (the code is not sequential).
3. Turn the lever to open the door.

If the door doesn't unlock, press "C" and re-enter the code.
