Full manual for the SECO-LARM ENFORCER EVT-AH16-VT2Q — a 1U rack-mount, 16-channel active video balun hub for transmitting CCTV video signals over Cat5e/6 cable.

    Overview

The EVT-AH16-VT2Q allows up to 16 color or monochrome CCTV cameras to connect via inexpensive Cat5e/6 unshielded twisted pair (UTP) cable to a DVR, video switcher, or multiplexer — eliminating the need to run expensive coaxial cable to each camera. It transmits color video signals up to 5,000ft (1.5km) using an active balun transmitter, or 3,940ft (1.2km) with a passive balun. It fits in a standard 1U rack space and can also be wall- or shelf-mounted.

    Key Features

    • Compact 1U height fits most standard 19" equipment racks
    • 16 video inputs and 16 video outputs, with 16 local loop-out (32 outputs total)
    • Active operation amplifies the video signal for excellent picture quality at long distances
    • Transmits color video up to 5,000ft (1.5km) active, or 3,940ft (1.2km) passive
    • Adjustable contrast and brightness at each port
    • Built-in video surge protection
    • Blue LED at each port indicates video signal; Power LED indicates unit status
    • Includes one 1.5A@12VDC power adapter and gold-plated BNC connector
    • Removable terminal blocks for easy wiring

    Mounting Options

Shelf/table mounting: Units can be stacked on top of one another or with other equipment, using the included rubber feet.

Wall mounting: Remove the mounting screws from the mounting points, screw the mounting brackets on facing downward, then mount to the wall using screws or bolts (not included) rated to support the unit's weight.

Rack mounting: The unit can be installed facing forward (for easy view of LED indicators) or backward (for easy access to wires) by attaching the mounting brackets to the appropriate side. No rear support rails are needed — leave at least 0.5U of clearance above and below for ventilation.

    Installation Overview

    1. Connect the included 12VDC adapter to the EVT-AH16-VT2Q and to a power source.
    2. Run a Cat5e/6 UTP cable from each camera to the EVT-AH16-VT2Q (existing telecom/data UTP can be mixed with new cabling).
    3. Connect a video balun (active transmitter recommended for best results) to a pair of wires in the UTP cable near each camera, then to the matching video-in port on the hub.
    4. Run coaxial cable from the Video Out or Video Loop port to the corresponding input on the DVR, video switcher, or multiplexer.
    5. For best surge protection, connect the included ground wire from the ground screw on the rear of the unit to an earth ground (grounded metal conduit, cold water pipe, or grounding rod).
    6. Adjust the Contrast and Brightness knobs at each port by hand to fine-tune the image for each connected camera.

Cable management "G" brackets are included to route power cables neatly on the rear of the unit — leave slack in cables for future maintenance and use cable ties (not included) to reduce tension.

    Troubleshooting

Screen is blank Check the hub is plugged in and the CCTV camera is powered. Verify the video cable from camera to hub, and from hub to monitor/switcher/DVR/multiplexer, are connected properly. Double-check balun connections.
Screen image is dim Clean the camera lens and dome (if applicable), check the light source, and if the camera has a backlight control (BLC) DIP switch set to OFF, try setting it to ON.
Screen image is dark Adjust the Brightness knob on the hub. Check that the camera's automatic electronic shutter (AES) DIP switch is OFF.
Poor contrast Adjust the monitor's contrast knob and the hub's Contrast knob, or reposition the camera.
Image flickers Change the position of the camera.
Image rolls If multiple cameras are used, verify power connection polarity is consistent across all units.
Image is distorted (24VAC only) If multiple cameras share a power source, adjust the linelock sync on the other camera, or reposition it.
Camera case is hot Check that the correct power supply is in use.
