    Overview

    The E-941SA-1K5Q is a single-door electromagnetic lock (maglock) that secures a door against unauthorized entry. When power is applied, it generates a strong magnetic field that attracts the steel armature plate mounted on the door. When power is removed, the door releases with no residual magnetism.

    Installation Applications

    Depending on door/frame type and location, additional brackets may be required: "Z" bracket, one or two "L" brackets, "U" bracket (typically for glass doors), and/or plate spacers. Mounting brackets include all additional hardware required.

    Installation Notes

    • For indoor use ONLY.
    • Do not run power wires and signal wires in the same conduit — this may cause interference.
    • Do not install a diode in parallel with the lock — this can cause release delay and residual magnetism.
    • Best location: inside of the secured door, wiring concealed in the frame to prevent tampering.

    Installation Steps

    1. Fold the included mounting template along the dotted center line to form a 90-degree angle.
    2. Close the door and find a mounting location near the upper free-moving corner, opposite the hinges.
    3. Place the template against the door and frame; mark drill hole locations.
    4. Drill two holes in the frame and three holes in the door as marked on the template.
    5. Tap the guide pins into the guide pin holes on the armature plate.
    6. Drill armature-side holes according to door type:
      • Hollow metal door: 5/16" (8mm) hole for armature screw through the armature-plate side; 5/8" (16mm) hole for the sexnut bolt on the opposite side.
      • Reinforced door: 1/4" (6.8mm) hole, 1" (25mm) deep, tapped for M8x1.25 thread.
      • Solid core door: 5/16" (8mm) hole for the armature screw, and 1/2" (12.7mm) hole 1" (25mm) deep for the sexnut bolt.
    7. Mount the armature plate using the sexnut bolt and door spacer with a rubber washer sandwiched between two steel washers, allowing the plate to pivot slightly to compensate for door misalignment.
    8. Tighten the armature screw enough to resist forced entry but loose enough to allow slight pivot; ensure guide pins seat correctly. Tip: use thread-locking compound for a lasting installation.
    9. Remove the anti-tamper screws from the electromagnet and cover plate, then remove the four hex-head mounting screws to detach the mounting plate from the electromagnet.
    10. Install the two short self-tapping screws through the mounting plate's oblong slots (don't fully tighten yet); adjust position by holding the magnet in place, then tighten once aligned.
    11. Install the eight long self-tapping screws once the mounting plate position is confirmed.
    12. Drill the cable access hole and run power leads through the mounting plate and door frame.
    13. Run power leads through the large cable access hole of the electromagnet.
    14. Mount the electromagnet through the keyhole slots, align with the mounting plate, and secure with the hex-head mounting screws.
    15. Cut wires to length for the terminal block. Set the voltage using the selection jumpers to match your input voltage (see Wiring Diagram below). Failure to set the correct voltage may damage the lock.
    16. Connect the power wires per the wiring diagram, test the unit, then replace the cover plate and anti-tamper screws.

    Wiring Diagram Notes

    • 12VDC operation: position two jumpers on all four pins.
    • 24VDC operation: position a single jumper over the two center pins.
    • Connect switching devices (e.g., push-to-exit switches) between the power source and the positive terminal on the lock. Connecting to the negative terminal may cause residual magnetism and a delay in unlocking.

    Troubleshooting

    Symptom Checks
    Door does not lock Check terminal block wiring is tight; check power supply is connected/operating; check coil resistance with a multimeter (46Ω ±10%); make sure the rubber washer is installed and undamaged.
    Door locks but can easily be forced open Confirm electromagnet and armature plate alignment; ensure contact surfaces are clean and free from rust; verify 12/24 VDC is present at the leads; check coil resistance; verify rubber washer is intact; check voltage selection jumper settings.
    Delay in door releasing The electromagnet already has a built-in MOV — do not add a second diode; confirm the control device is wired to the positive terminal.

    Checking coil resistance: Remove the faceplate, disconnect the wire harness from the circuit board, and measure resistance across the Red/Green wires and the Black/White wires with a multimeter. Each coil should read 46Ω ±10%. If either coil shows open, short, or incorrect resistance, replace the electromagnet.
