    Installation manual for the SECO-LARM ENFORCER E-941SA-80Q, an 80-lb. miniature electromagnetic door lock.

    How It Works

    When power is applied to the electromagnetic lock, it energizes the unit's built-in electromagnet, which is attracted to the steel armature plate mounted on the door, holding the door fast against unauthorized entry. When power to the lock is turned off, the electromagnet releases the armature plate, allowing the door to open.

    Mounting Overview

    1. Drill holes for the mounting plate and armature plate using the fold-along template: close the door, find a mounting location on the door frame near the upper free-moving corner (as close to the corner as possible), place the template against the door and frame, and drill two holes in the frame for the mounting plate and three in the door as indicated.
    2. Mount the armature plate to the door with the two steel washers and one rubber washer: secure the two guidepins into the side holes of the armature plate, insert the armature screw through the rubber washer between two steel washers between the armature plate and door — this allows the plate to pivot slightly to compensate for door misalignment. Do not tighten the armature plate against the door; it must remain able to pivot around the armature screw.
    3. Screw the mounting plate to the door frame: remove the L-shaped mounting plate from the magnet, insert the two provided 1/8" x 1" (4 x 25.4mm) screws through the plate into the door frame, ensuring the armature plate and mounting plate are concentric/aligned.
    4. Drill the power cable access hole.
    5. Mount the electromagnet to the door frame using the Allen wrench to screw the socket-head mounting screws through the bottom of the electromagnet into the mounting bracket.
    6. Connect the power leads: run two leads from the power supply through the power cable access hole into the electromagnet, and connect to the red (positive) and black (negative) power input wires — observe correct polarity.
    7. Test the unit.

    Drilling specifics vary by door type — hollow metal door, solid core door, and reinforced door each require slightly different hole sizes/depths per the mounting template (see installation diagrams for exact 5mm/9mm hole and M5 x 0.8 thread specifications).

    Troubleshooting

    Problem Possible Cause Solution
    Door does not lock No power Check wire connections, confirm the power supply is connected and operating, and verify the lock switch is wired correctly.
    Door locks but can be easily forced open Poor contact between electromagnet and armature plate Make sure the electromagnet and armature plate are properly aligned; ensure contact surfaces are clean and rust-free.
      Insufficient voltage Check power leads with a meter; ensure power supplied is between 12–24VDC.
    Delay in door releasing A secondary diode was installed across the electromagnet The electromagnet already has a built-in metal oxide varistor for interference suppression — do not install a secondary diode.

    Regular Maintenance

    • Clean the contact surfaces of the electromagnet and armature plate with a soft cloth and non-abrasive, non-corrosive cleaner.
    • Apply a light coat of silicon lubricant and wipe away the excess to prevent rust.
    • Check that the armature plate is securely attached to the door yet can still pivot slightly around the armature screw.
    • Check that the electromagnet is securely attached to the door frame.
