    Product datasheet for the SDC (Security Door Controls) MSB550 Mechanical Switch Bar — a UL Listed, burglary-resistant non-latching push bar for releasing magnetic locks and triggering delayed egress, access control request-to-exit, or alarm shunt functions.

    Overview

    Building codes require that egress through access-controlled doors not require prior knowledge of operational requirements. The MSB550 meets this by releasing electromagnetic door locks for uninhibited egress: when slight pressure is applied, a microswitch is actuated, immediately releasing the electromagnetic door lock. It's an economical alternative to sensor-activated bars.

    Key Features

    • Only 1/8" total bar movement (0.125" / 3.2mm max) — quick, quiet trigger activation to release the electromagnetic lock
    • Narrow, low-profile design: only 1.875" (47mm) projection from the door — suited for aesthetically superior glass openings
    • Heavy-duty construction: aluminum extrusion with rugged end caps and an all-metal mounting assembly; resists malfunction from sagging/warped doors or tweaked glass door stiles
    • UL Listed, burglary resistant

    Standard length for 36" doors, PT-2U Power Transfer included. Field-cuttable bars available for wider doors: -42 for 42" (1,067mm) and -48 for 48" (1,219mm) wide doors. Example specification: MSB550V x 500GL, MSB550V-2, MSB550V48.

    • Contacts: optional 2x SPDT 5 Amp contacts (standard is 1x)
    • 500GL Glass Mounting Kit: for full glass and Herculite doors with stiles; includes adhesive and (2) mounting blocks
    • 500SK Shim Kit: raises bar from door surface; recommended for wood or hollow metal doors
