Installation and safety instructions for the Satco Starfish Smart Plug/Dimmer, model S11270 — a WiFi-connected grounded smart plug/dimmer for table-top lamps and other portable lamps.

Overview

The Starfish Smart Plug/Dimmer is a grounded device with a male plug containing a ground pin, intended for use only with a three-pronged grounded outlet. It's designed for 125VAC / 60Hz power sources and is rated for use with table-top lamp dimmers and other portable lamps with plugs. The unit includes an on/off button, an indicator LED, and a power socket.

Safety Warnings

• Do not insert the smart plug into another smart plug.
• Power is disconnected only when the smart plug is removed from an electrical outlet.
• The smart plug should be placed near the appliance and easily accessible to the user.
• Do not open the product.
• Prior to use, ensure the smart plug is not damaged; do not install it if the plug casing is damaged in any way.
• Review the technical data (maximum permissible switching capacity of the relay and type of load) before connecting a load.
• All load ratings relate to resistive loads — do not exceed the specified capacity, which could lead to device destruction, fire, or electrical accident.
• Do not connect appliances that could cause fire or damage if switched on inadvertently (e.g. irons, power tools).
• Do not use the plug to disconnect appliances from the home's main power supply — the load is not galvanically isolated from the main supply.
• For indoor use only. Do not use near water (bathtubs, sinks, wet basements, pools).

Maintenance and Care

The product is maintenance-free. Repairs should only be performed by qualified persons. Clean with a soft, clean, dry, lint-free cloth after unplugging — use a slightly dampened cloth with neutral detergent if needed, followed by a dry cloth. Do not use solvent-based cleaning agents. Incorrect handling or ignoring safety warnings may compromise the device's protection.

Regulatory Compliance

This device complies with Part 15 of the FCC Rules and Industry Canada license-exempt RSS standard(s). Operation is subject to two conditions: (1) this device may not cause harmful interference, and (2) it must accept any interference received, including interference that may cause undesired operation. Changes or modifications not expressly approved by the party responsible for compliance could void the user's authority to operate the equipment.

This equipment has been tested and found to comply with Class B digital device limits under FCC Part 15, providing reasonable protection against harmful interference in residential installations. If interference to radio/TV reception occurs, try reorienting/relocating the receiving antenna, increasing separation between equipment and receiver, connecting the equipment to a different outlet/circuit, or consulting a technician. CAN ICES-3 (B)/NMB-3(B). A separation distance of 20cm or more should be maintained between the antenna and persons during operation to satisfy FCC/IC RF exposure requirements.
