Satco Starfish S11259 — 4" LED Downlight Installation Instructions

Installation and safety instructions for the Satco Starfish™ WiFi Smart S11259, a 4" LED downlight retrofit kit for recessed can fixtures.

Safety Warnings

Risk of Fire or Electric Shock — read before installing:

• LED retrofit kit installation requires knowledge of luminaire electrical systems. If not qualified, do not attempt installation — contact a qualified electrician.
• To reduce risk of fire and overheating, secure all connections.
• TURN OFF the electrical power before proceeding.
• Install this kit only in luminaires that have the construction features and dimensions shown in the manual's photographs/drawings, and where the retrofit kit's input rating does not exceed the luminaire's input rating.
• Electrical rating: 120V/60Hz.
• Do not expose wiring to edges of sheet metal or other sharp objects that could cause damage or abrasion.
• Do not make or alter any open holes in an enclosure of wiring or electrical components during installation.
• This retrofit kit is accepted as a component of a luminaire where suitability of the combination must be determined by authorities having jurisdiction.
• Not intended for use with emergency exits.
• Suitable for wet locations, covered ceiling-mounted luminaire.

• Trim diameter: 2¾" (71mm)
• Overall width: 5" (130mm)
• Minimum housing depth: 5½" (140mm)
• Minimum housing opening: 4¼" (102mm)

Installation Steps

1. Turn OFF power prior to installation.
2. Remove existing trim installed in recessed housing (if necessary).
3. If applicable, slide the lamp holder bracket to its upward maximum position. If the lamp holder bracket is less than 4½" from the bottom edge of the fixture enclosure, the lamp holder bracket must be removed.
4. If necessary, remove the lamp holder mounting bracket and the lamp holder from the bracket, then attach the provided label to the existing luminaire.
5. Install the adapter into the socket.
6. Connect the orange terminals together.
7. Insert torsion springs into the luminaire housing brackets.
8. Gently push up the trim and torsion springs so they begin to expand and lift the trim into place. Installation is complete — turn power ON.
9. App connection: Download the free "Starfish Smart Lighting" app from your app store. Refer to the separate Starfish User Guide for detailed pairing instructions.

Installing into an Existing Recessed LED Luminaire with Compatible Connectors

1. Follow Steps 1 and 2 above (power off, remove existing trim).
2. Discard the medium base adapter.
3. Skip Steps 4 and 5. Continue with Steps 6, 7, and 8 above (orange terminal connection through trim installation).
