    Installation Overview

    IQ Shock Mini-S can be installed on sliding glass doors, windows, doors that swing, and more. The enclosure base is secured to the installation surface with double-sided tape (3M part number 4945, UL recognized under file MH17478 QOQW2). Note: the shock sensor is for supplementary detection only, not for primary protection of the surface, and is not intended for use as a glass break detector. The sensor is intended to be installed on doors with or without glass inserts and on window frames — but not on the actual glass surface.

    1. Choose installation location — exterior doors, sliding glass doors, or windows.
    2. DIP switch configuration — Two dip switches customize behavior:
      • DS#1 (Installer Test Mode): ON calibrates accelerometer orientation and activates the LED for dialing in shock sensitivity with the potentiometer; in this mode the device will NOT transmit signals. OFF disables installer test mode.
      • DS#2 (Reed Switch): ON enables reed switch (must be ON for UL installations); OFF disables reed switch.
      • Sensitivity dial: Clockwise = more sensitive; counter-clockwise = less sensitive.
    3. Remove battery tabs.
    4. Apply adhesive.
    5. Mount sensor and magnet — place panel in "Auto Learn" mode, then open/close the case to "tamper" the device.
    6. Learn into panel — customize name and settings as desired, touch "ADD".
    7. Adjust shock sensitivity — with dip switch 1 set to ON (installer test mode), the LED flashes RED when it detects a shock level strong enough to trigger an alarm. There are 3 total sensitivity settings; the LED flashes each time the threshold changes. No RF transmission occurs during installer test mode. Gently tap the mounting surface and gradually increase pressure, or turn the sensitivity dial clockwise with a small screwdriver, until the desired response is achieved. Ensure the device doesn't trip on accidental vibration (wind, birds, window coverings) or normal door/window operation. Move dip switch 1 back to OFF once sensitivity is set, then verify communication with the panel.

    Safety Warnings

    • Maintenance caution: This product uses lithium batteries. Improper handling may result in heat generation, explosion, or fire, which may lead to personal injury.
    • Warning: Danger of explosion if batteries are installed incorrectly. Replace only with the same or equivalent type recommended by the manufacturer. Keep away from small children — if swallowed, promptly see a doctor. Do not try to recharge these batteries.
    • Warning (sensitivity testing): To avoid personal injury while testing sensitivity, do not apply pressure to glass inserts or windows.

    Placement Testing & Signal Strength

    Before permanently mounting, temporarily mount the device and perform a placement test from the control panel. Only GOOD or STRONG signal strengths are acceptable — if you receive a POOR signal, relocate and re-test. For UL/ULC installations, only STRONG signal levels are acceptable.

    Recommended maximum gap separation depends on materials and axis of use, up to 6.25mm (0.25") maximum:
