Manual configuration guide for the PulseWorx KPC-6 Six-Button Controller — covering Network ID setup, link sets, and pushbutton linking without using a laptop or UPStart software.

Selecting a New Network ID

The Network ID is a unique code shared by all devices in your UPB (Universal Powerline Bus) system so they can communicate with one another. If a neighboring UPB system shares the same Network ID, the two systems will interact and interfere. UPStart software can set the Network ID to any of 250 unique values, but you can also switch all devices manually using a KPC-6 controller:

1. Press and hold the 'ON' and 'OFF' pushbuttons on a KPC-6 to enter Setup Mode — all pushbuttons will begin blinking.
2. Press and hold the 'A' and 'B' pushbuttons to start it learning a new Network ID — 'A' and 'B' continue blinking while other buttons turn off.
3. Wait for the controller to finish learning the new Network ID — all pushbuttons turn off when complete.

Teaching a Network ID to Other Devices

Once a KPC-6 has learned a Network ID, you can teach that same ID to other devices without a laptop — useful when adding a new device to an existing system:

1. Press and hold 'ON' and 'OFF' on the KPC-6 to enter Setup Mode.
2. Put all other devices you want to teach into Setup Mode (consult each device's own documentation for how to do this).
3. Press and hold 'C' and 'D' on the KPC-6 to start teaching its Network ID — 'C' and 'D' blink while other buttons turn off.
4. Wait for the KPC-6 to finish teaching — all devices indicate they are out of Setup Mode per their own documentation.

Setting a Link Set

All KPC-6 controllers ship able to control a single set of 6 Links, "Link Set 1." Each pushbutton controls a separate Link (group of devices). If you have a second KPC-6 that shouldn't control the same Links, assign it a different Link Set (one of 8 available):

1. Press and hold 'ON' and 'OFF' to enter Setup Mode.
2. Triple-tap the pushbutton corresponding to the desired Link Set — all pushbuttons turn off once the new Link Set is programmed.

Adjusting Scene Lighting Levels

By default, a single tap of any KPC-6 pushbutton activates a pre-stored scene (light levels and fade rates) in all devices linked to that button. To change the stored levels:

1. Tap the desired pushbutton once quickly — it turns on and linked devices go to their configured levels.
2. Adjust the light levels (or states) on all devices you want activated by this pushbutton.
3. Tap the same pushbutton 5 times quickly — it will blink on and off and the devices will blink and store their current light levels.

Linking Other Devices to a Pushbutton

Once your Network ID and Link Set are configured, link devices to the controller's pushbuttons (copying the Link assigned to that button into the target devices):

1. Tap the desired pushbutton once quickly — it turns on and any linked devices go to their configured state.
2. Put the devices you want controlled into Setup Mode (per their own documentation).
3. Optional: if the pushbutton should activate a scene, adjust the light levels/states on all devices you want controlled.
4. Tap the same pushbutton 5 times quickly — the button blinks and the devices learn their current levels/states and exit Setup Mode.

This procedure can be repeated for any pushbutton other than the UP/DOWN buttons.

Unlinking Devices from a Pushbutton

1. Tap the desired pushbutton once quickly — it turns on and linked devices go to their configured state.
2. Put the device you no longer want controlled into Setup Mode.
3. Tap the same pushbutton 10 times quickly — it blinks and the unlinked device exits Setup Mode per its own documentation.
