Platinum Tools 10Gig Termination Kit (90170) — Manual

Instruction manual for the Platinum Tools 10-Gig Termination Kit (P/N 90170) — a complete kit for terminating Cat6E, Cat6A, Cat7, and other large industrial Ethernet cables with RJ45 Cat6A/10-Gig shielded connectors, engineered to meet the 10-Gig performance standard.

Overview

Streaming media demands robust, dependable networks, including 10-Gig Cat6A shielded cable, to provide the necessary expanded bandwidth. However, these larger shielded cables require special connectors and tools. Platinum Tools' 10-Gig shielded connector and Tele-TitanXg crimp tool are specifically designed to terminate Cat6A cables — together they form a true 10-Gig Termination System.

CT-360 External Ground Crimp Tool (P/N 12360C)

• 360° crimp on the external ground tab of shielded RJ45 connectors

• Dual cavity covers a wide range of cable ODs: 0.245" to 0.335" (6.2mm–8.5mm)
• Spring-loaded, non-ratcheted design

Cyclops® 2 Cable Jacket Stripper (P/N 15010C)

• Self-adjusts to automatically score PVC and Plenum jackets
• Ready to use straight out of the kit
• Works with shielded/unshielded twisted pair and fiber optic cables
• Accepts cable ODs 0.10" to 0.43" (2.5mm–11mm)

Termination Instructions

1. Strip and remove 1" of the cable jacket with the Cyclops® 2 Cable Stripper (P/N 15010C). Remove cellophane and shield, straighten the wires. Use the T568A/T568B wiring chart to organize wires (T568A: pins 1-8 = W/G, G, W/O, B, W/B, O, W/B, B; T568B swaps the orange and green pairs).
2. Line up the wires and make a clean cut across all 8 conductors, then slide on the wire guide bar: (A) slide the bar down until snug with the end of the jacket, (B) cut across all 8 conductors leaving 3/16" of wire protruding from the guide bar.
3. Reshape the end of the cable using the CT-360 (P/N 12360), making it oval so it slides into the connector with ease.
4. Carefully insert into the backend of the connector and push all the way forward until all 8 conductors are seated flush against the front end. NOTE: Do NOT use a standard RJ45 crimp tool — this connector has no primary strain relief and a standard tool will crush it.
5. Insert the prepped connector into the proper cavity of the Tele-TitanXg (P/N 12515C) crimper and squeeze the handle to terminate.
6. Roll up the drain wire and place it in the base of the external ground. As you bring the external ground into place onto the cable, keep the mass of drain wire tucked in so it is totally covered.
7. Bend the external ground down onto the cable jacket and push in the wing tips.
8. Crimp the external ground using the CT-360, using the large or small tool cavity depending on cable size. NOTE: Do NOT over-crimp the external ground.
9. You are finished.
