  • NuVo NV-RIPS Remote NuVoDock — Wiring Diagram Reference

    September 08, 2026 2 min read

Wiring reference for the NuVo NV-RIPS Remote NuVoDock system, connecting a remote iPod dock into a NuVo Grand Concerto or Essentia E6G whole-house audio system.

    Full text manual (for reference)

Wiring/installation reference for the NuVo NV-RIPS Remote NuVoDock system — connects an iPod dock (NV-RIPD) via a remote iPod receiver (NV-RIPR-DC) into a NuVo whole-house audio system (Grand Concerto / Essentia E6G) through the NV-I8GEZP EZ Port and NV-I8DM Six Source Eight Zone Audio Distribution System.

    System Components

    • NV-RIPD — Remote iPod Dock, installed wherever the user docks their iPod.
    • NV-RJ45P-DC — Local Source Amplifier, located in the wall near the NV-RIPD NuVoDock. Warning: Connect only to a NuVo RIPS1 System.
    • NV-RIPR-DC — Remote iPod Receiver, mounted in the wall behind the Grand Concerto (near the NV-I8GEZP).
    • NV-I8GEZP (Concerto EZ Port) — Connects up to 3 devices via RS-232, receiving the source input from the NV-RIPR-DC.
    • NV-I8DM — Six Source Eight Zone Audio Distribution System, 120V 60Hz 500W, Fuse T5A. Handles the 8 output zones with variable/fixed output options.

    Cabling

    • NV-CMR6B — Included 3.5mm-to-RCA stereo audio cable; provides audio to the system as one of its six sources.
    • NV-NC10W — Included 10-foot white CAT5 cable, connecting the NV-RJ45P-DC.
    • Up to 300 feet of in-wall CAT5 cable connects the NV-RJ45P-DC to the NV-RIPR-DC.
    • NV-NC3B — Included cable that connects the NV-RIPR-DC to the NV-I8GEZP or NV-E6GMAP-DC.
    • NV-SLC1 — Cable used to connect zone outputs to the NV-I8X.
    • NV-NC1 — Cable used for the NV-I8EZP1 connection.

    Setup Notes

    • The source address rotary switch on the NV-RIPR-DC should be set to the appropriate source input number on the amplifier. Once set, this allows any compatible iPod plugged into the system to be recognized as a NuVoNet source. This setting must be made with the power supply unplugged.
    • Newer iPods come with universal dock adaptors. If you don't have an adaptor, order the appropriate part number from Apple (store.apple.com).
    • Grand Concerto is the reference platform shown; Essentia E6G installs the same way.
    • Each of the Grand Concerto's zone Control Pads connect to the back of the Grand Concerto's EZ Port with CAT5 cable inside the wall, allowing the iPod to be controlled from any room in the house.

    Amplifier Zone Layout Reference

The NV-I8DM amplifier chassis provides 7 zones plus a shared zone 7&8, each with variable and fixed output options (20W/6Ω x2 typical), plus source inputs (1–6), source link, source status inputs, zone trigger outputs, emitter outputs, and system/network/digital link connectors. Refer to the full PDF for the labeled terminal diagram if wiring a new installation from scratch.

    Certifications

    NV-I8DM: Conforms to UL STD. 6500, CAN/CSA STD. E60065.
