    Full text manual (for reference)

Installation and operating instructions for the NuTone/Broan-NuTone LA224RWH plug-in door chime with strobe light — a wireless pushbutton and chime set for residential use.

    Overview

The LA224RWH is a wireless plug-in chime with strobe light, paired with a battery-powered pushbutton. It operates at an unobstructed distance of up to 100 feet; certain building materials (metal, concrete, brick, stucco, foil-lined insulation) reduce operating range more than others (wood, vinyl siding).

    Determine Usable Location

    • Chime must not be located within 1 foot of any metal
    • Pushbutton and chime should be within 100 feet of each other

Learn Procedure (Pairing the Pushbutton to the Chime)

    1. Bring the pushbutton and chime near each other — either plug the chime in near the pushbutton, or remove the pushbutton from its base (insert a small flat-blade screwdriver into the bottom and twist) and bring it near the plugged-in chime
    2. Press and release the "Learn" button on the chime
    3. Chime beeps twice, indicating "Learn" mode entered
    4. Press and release the pushbutton (strobe does not operate in Learn mode)
    5. Confirm the chime tone is heard
    6. Repeat pressing the pushbutton to cycle through available chime tones
    7. When the desired tone is heard, press and release "Learn" again (note: the chime may not respond if pressed too soon after the tone sounds)
    8. Chime beeps twice to confirm exit from Learn mode
    9. Press and release the pushbutton once more to confirm the tone hasn't changed

Up to three (3) pushbuttons can be paired to a single chime, each with a different tone. To erase all learned pushbuttons and tones, press and hold the "Learn" button — the chime will beep twice, then (after less than 15 seconds) beep four times; release the button.

    Final Installation

    1. If the pushbutton was removed for the Learn procedure, hook its top catch onto the base, swing into position, and press the bottom until it snaps securely onto the base
    2. Plug the chime into an electrical outlet at the desired mounting location
    3. Press and release the pushbutton
    4. Confirm the chime tone sounds
    5. If it doesn't sound, move the chime closer to the pushbutton and repeat

    Troubleshooting

    Problem Remedy
Chime does not sound and pushbutton LED doesn't light Check battery polarity in the pushbutton; replace the battery
Chime does not sound even near the pushbutton Perform the erase procedure, then repeat the full Learn Procedure (steps 1–9)
Chime sounds without the pushbutton being pressed Check the pushbutton interior for moisture and inspect the O-ring for cracks/damage; if fine, perform the erase procedure and re-pair
