    Full text manual (for reference)

Installation and setup guide for the NuTone/Broan DCAM100 Smart Wi-Fi Doorbell Camera, including chime box wiring, mounting, LED status codes, app setup, and troubleshooting.

    System Components

    • Smart Doorbell Camera
    • Smart Doorbell Camera Mounting Plate
    • Anchors (3) & Phillips screws (3)
    • Torx wrench & Torx screw
    • Wire connectors (4)
    • Diodes for chime box (2)

    Tools for Installation

Phillips screwdriver, flat screwdriver, wire strippers/cutters, pliers, level, and (optional) power drill with 1/4" bit.

    1. Prepare for Installation

Verify Wi-Fi strength: Go to the existing doorbell location and use a smartphone connected to the installation's Wi-Fi router to confirm adequate signal strength (2–3 bars).

    2. Installing the Diode in the Chime Box

Note: It is recommended to turn power OFF before performing any wiring.

    1. Open the chime box.
    2. Install the diode as shown between the REAR and TRANS terminals (not compatible with electronic chimes).

Note: When two DCAM100 units are used, connect a second diode between the REAR and TRANS terminals.

    3. Existing Doorbell Removal

    • Remove the existing doorbell pushbutton from its location.
    • Disconnect the wires from the back of the pushbutton.

    4. Mounting the Doorbell Camera Plate

    • Use the mounting plate as a guide to mark holes.
    • Use a leveling tool to align the mounting plate.
    • Use a 1/4" (6.35mm) drill for anchor holes when using screws and anchors (or screws only, depending on mounting surface).

    5. Wiring the Doorbell Camera

Connect doorbell wires using the included weather-resistant wire connectors. Ensure there is enough room behind the mounting plate for excess wires.

    1. Twist, then feed wires into the short end of the connector.
    2. Crimp wires with pliers on the short end of the connector.

    6. LED Indicator Status

    Color Status Note
    Flashing Blue (once) Power ON
Flashing Blue (slow) Cold start at low temperature
Solid Blue 5 seconds Connected to 16V transformer without diode Occurs after power on/button push; can't ring chime box
Flashing Blue 5 sec (fast) Transformer voltage is low Occurs after power on/button push; proceed to Step 7
Solid Blue Transformer voltage too high Doorbell can't work
    Solid Red Powering up
Flashing Green/Red Discovery Mode Skip Step 7, proceed to Step 8
Flashing Green (fast) Connecting to Cloud Server
Solid Green Connected to Cloud Server Skip Step 7, proceed to Step 8
Flashing Green (slow) Session in Progress
Flashing Red (slow) Not connected to network
    Flashing Red (fast) Firmware update

    7. Wiring Doorbell Without Chime Box Connected (AC 16V, 10VA–30VA)

If transformer voltage is too low (see Step 6), proceed with Step 7. Otherwise, skip to Step 8.

    1. Turn off the power.
    2. Open the chime box.
    3. Connect the two wires on the Transformer terminal.
    4. Turn on the power.
    5. Blue LED flashes once. Doorbell button test can proceed.
    6. The mechanical chime will no longer ring. Add the optional Wi-Fi Chime if desired.

    8–10. Camera Installation and Testing

Push extra wire into the mounting plate slot, hang the doorbell camera on the mounting plate tabs (camera "down"), then slide the camera downward until it clicks into place. Secure with the security screw in the bottom of the doorbell camera.

Test: Turn power ON and press the doorbell button. If the chime rings normally, continue to the next step. If it does NOT ring normally, the transformer voltage is low — go to Step 7, or replace with a new 16 VAC, 30 VA transformer.

    11. Setup Operation

    1. Download the app: On the resident's smartphone, download and install the "NuTone Knock™" app from the Google Play Store (Android) or Apple App Store (iOS).
    2. Create an account: With the smartphone connected to the local Wi-Fi network, select "Create an Account." Enter a name, valid email, and password. You'll receive a verification email from webinfo@nutonesmarthomeseries.com with an activation code (check junk/spam folder — expires 1 hour after sending).
    3. Connect to the doorbell camera: The camera should be in Discovery mode with the indicator flashing red/green. If not, press the call button for 10–15 seconds to enter Discovery mode.
    4. Follow app steps for final setup. Check the app for the latest firmware version in the About Device menu.

    Troubleshooting

    Issue Resolution
App doesn't save photos/videos Ensure sufficient smartphone memory and that app permissions allow device memory access.
Didn't receive Authentication Code Check junk/spam folder for an email from webinfo@nutonesmarthomeseries.com.
Doorbell doesn't register on Wi-Fi May be out of Wi-Fi range — move the router or install a Wi-Fi extender. Supports 2.4GHz networks only.
Loses network connectivity May be out of range — move router or install a Wi-Fi extender.
Doorbell power cycles off/on Check that power wires are securely connected — existing doorbell wiring may be bad (refer to Step 7).
Doorbell camera won't power up Confirm transformer power is ON, diode is installed correctly, and wiring/connections are correct and secure.
