Setup guide for controlling a Nucleus smart home hub using Amazon Alexa voice commands — placing calls, dimming the screen, and more.

    Full text manual (for reference)

Setup guide: controlling a Nucleus smart home hub/video-calling device using Amazon Alexa voice commands. This feature only works on the Nucleus device itself — you can't use a separate Echo or Echo Dot to send commands to a Nucleus device.

    Enabling the Alexa Skill

Make sure you're logged into Alexa on your Nucleus device, then say:

    "Alexa, enable the Nucleus skill."

Alexa should confirm the skill was enabled and offer a sample command. If Alexa says she can't help, check your Nucleus software version under Settings and update if needed — a reboot will force it to check for the latest updates immediately. Questions or feedback can be sent to support@nucleuslife.com.

    Voice Commands

    Initiating Calls

With the skill enabled, you can call individual Nucleus devices or the mobile app by name. For example, to call a device named "Kitchen":

    • "Alexa, tell Nucleus to call Kitchen" — starts a video call (default)
    • "Alexa, tell Nucleus to audio call Kitchen" — starts an audio-only call
    • "Alexa, tell Nucleus to call Kitchen audio only" — same result, alternate phrasing

Always include "tell Nucleus" in the command — otherwise Alexa won't know how to route it.

    Changing Settings / Getting Help

    • "Alexa, tell Nucleus to dim the screen" or "Alexa, tell Nucleus to sleep" — darkens the screen. It remains available for calls, and you can wake it by tapping the On/Off button or issuing another Alexa command.
    • "Alexa, tell Nucleus to ask for help" — lists what the skill supports.

Additional Alexa capabilities for Nucleus are added over time.
