Specifications and setup guide for the NetMedia POEmax™ Series 8-port Power over Ethernet (PoE) switches — a unique PoE-powered switch line with up to seven PoE outputs, ideal for IP cameras, VoIP phones, and standard TCP/IP network infrastructure.
The POEmax Series eight-port network switches provide up to seven PoE outputs. The number of PoE devices they can power depends on the model, current draw per device, and the power supply used. The 100W model supplies enough power for seven devices at maximum load (13W each); the 50W models run four or seven devices in combinations up to 47W total. All POEmax models include a unique PoE-Powered capability, redistributing up to 10W among devices with no local power outlet needed.
Ideal for cubicles, ceilings, server/print rooms — IP cameras (iViewHD), VoIP phones, data extension, and standard home/office building infrastructure.

If using a power supply, connect the 48V DC power transformer to the POEmax Power Input connector, then plug the transformer into an AC outlet. The POEmax switch operates as PoE Power Sourcing Equipment (PSE), splitting remaining power among all PoE ports: 47W with the 50W power supply, or 97W with the 100W power supply (after 3W reserved for the switch itself).
Connect a PSE (another PoE switch or PoE injector) to the POE IN port (Port 8). The POEmax switch then operates as a PoE-Powered Device. POE OUT models can rebroadcast PoE power to other PDs, redistributing up to 10W when PoE-Powered.
Connect POEmax POE IN to a PoE switch/injector to extend Ethernet cable length by another 100M (328ft) without requiring local power. POE OUT models can still redistribute any available PoE power to downstream devices.
Distance note: PoE power availability declines over distance. When PoE-Powered, POEmax can rebroadcast 10W of PoE power from a 13W PoE input as long as the total cable distance from the PSE to the PD (with POEmax in the middle) is 50 feet or less — enough to run, for example, four iViewHD cameras (2.5W each).
