User manual for the NAPCO/Securitytronix ST-PTZ-RC infrared remote PTZ controller.

    Full text manual (for reference)

User manual for the NAPCO/Securitytronix ST-PTZ-RC, an infrared remote PTZ controller for pan/tilt/zoom dome cameras.

    Package Contents

    • One ST-PTZ-RC handheld infrared remote controller
    • One PT Dome Controller
    • One connection block
    • One user manual

Note: The handheld remote requires 2 AAA batteries (not supplied). The PT Dome Controller requires a 12VDC 1A power supply (not supplied), such as the Securitytronix ST-PS12VDC1A.

    Product Description

The ST-PTZ-RC is a consumer-grade PTZ controller designed for PTZ dome cameras. It comes with one PT Dome Controller allowing PTZ control of up to 255 PTZ cameras.

    Specifications

    Communications Protocol RS-485
    Baud Rate 1200, 2400, 4800, 9600 BPS
    Camera Protocol PELCO-D, PELCO-P
Power 2 AAA batteries (handheld remote); 12VDC 1A power supply (PT Dome Controller)

Important: A PTZ controller's utility depends heavily on the specific PTZ camera being controlled, since terminology and functions vary between manufacturers. Consult both the controller's and the camera's manuals to ensure proper setup.

    Safety & Handling

    • Ensure sufficient space between the PT Dome Controller and high-voltage equipment/cables per electrical safety standards.
    • Do not open or dismantle either unit — there are no serviceable parts inside.
    • Do not install in temperatures above 104°F or in damp environments.
    • Clean only with a dry cloth (mild detergent if necessary; never abrasive cleaners).
    • A minimum 12VDC 1A power supply must be used — AC power will damage the unit.
    • Only qualified installers should install, test, or disassemble the units.
    • Any shock, collision, or shaking will cause damage and void the warranty.

    Wiring Connections

    1. Connect an unshielded twisted pair (UTP) control cable between the PTZ dome camera and the PT Dome Controller via the connection block, matching connection polarities at both ends.
    2. Connect a 12VDC 1A power supply to the PT Dome Controller's power port.
    3. After power-on, the unit displays an address (e.g. A001) and preset point (e.g. P001).

    Settings & Functions

Set Target Camera Protocol and Baud Rate

Press DISP once to see the firmware version; press again to see current protocol (d = PELCO-D, p = PELCO-P) and baud rate (12/24/48/96 = 1200/2400/4800/9600 BPS). Default is PELCO-D at 2400BPS. Press SETUP to change — use UP/DOWN for protocol, LEFT/RIGHT for baud rate, then ENTER to confirm.

    Set Target Camera Address

Press CAM to enter address mode, then a numeric key to set the target camera (e.g. key 1 = A001). For addresses above 10, press -/-- to enter "plus 10" mode, then input up to 3 digits and press ENTER.

Set / Call / Delete Preset Positions

Move the camera to the desired location, then press and hold PRESET for 3 seconds, input a preset number, and press ENTER. Call a preset with SHOT + number + ENTER. Delete a preset by calling it, then pressing and holding DELETE for 3 seconds.

Set HOME and A/B Limiting Positions

Similar to setting presets: move to the desired position, press and hold PRESET, then press HOME (or A/B) followed by ENTER.

    Pattern Tour

Press PATTERN to enter Pattern Track Setup Mode, then select up to 16 pre-existing preset positions (e.g. SHOT, 6, ENTER; SHOT, 2, ENTER...). Press PATTERN again to end setup. Press RUN to play the tour, RUN again to stop.

    Camera Speed

Four speed settings are available: S1=8 (slowest), S2=40, S3=51, S4=63 (fastest). Set via SPEED + Sx + ENTER. Default Pattern Tour settings are speed 63 with ~8 second dwell time.

    Troubleshooting

    • Controller isn't controlling the camera at all: Verify RS-485 connection polarities match, and that baud rate and protocol are set correctly on both ends.
    • Communicating but some functions don't work: Controller terminology and functions can differ from what a specific PTZ camera supports — consult both manuals.
