  • MedReady 1700 / MR-357 / 1750 Automatic Medication Dispenser — Setup Instructions

    September 08, 2026 4 min read

Setup and operating instructions for the MedReady automatic medication dispenser — battery/AC setup, dispensing schedule programming, medication loading, and troubleshooting.

    Full text manual (for reference)

Setup and operating instructions for the MedReady automatic medication dispenser (models 1700, MR-357, 1750) — a locking pill dispenser that alarms and dispenses medication on a preset schedule.

    Initial Setup

    1. Install the Battery. The battery compartment is on the underside of the unit. Slide the tab back and lift after it clears the stop to open the cover. Plug in the battery (the plug only inserts one way) and replace the cover. If installed correctly, the colon on the clock face will flash. The battery must stay connected for the MedReady to operate.
    2. Connect the AC Adapter. Plug it into the "12 Volt DC Jack" on the underside of the unit and into an outlet that is not controlled by a wall switch. The clock display should now be visible.
    3. Remove the Blue Lid. Insert the round key into the lock, depress slightly, and rotate clockwise to the open/horizontal position. With the unit facing you, place one hand at the 9 o'clock position and one at the 3 o'clock position, depress slightly, and rotate clockwise about one inch until the blue top stops rotating, then lift it off. Leave the key in the blue top, in the open position.
    4. Set the Time of Day. Hold down the TIME SET button while pressing HOUR, MIN, and AM-PM to adjust. A red light under "PM" indicates PM.

    Setting Dispensing Times (1–4 alarms)

For each dispensing time slot, hold down the corresponding number button (1, 2, 3, or 4) while pressing HOUR, MIN, then AM-PM to set that dose time. A red light under "PM" indicates PM.

    Arming / Disarming Dispensing Times

Like an alarm clock — if the light above a number is on, medication dispenses at that time; if off, that slot is deactivated. Press and hold the corresponding number button (1–4) until the light reaches the desired on/off state. Confirm the lights match your desired schedule before finishing setup.

    Setting the Alarm Length

Alarm length can be set from 3 to 250 minutes (factory default: 30 minutes). Press and hold the alarm test button while pressing MIN — the available lengths rotate through the display. Release at your desired length.

Audio and Visual (A/V) Alert Settings

Slide the white T-bar up to the X to disable any active alarms before adjusting. The display's right 2 digits show A/V alert settings — hold down both the 1 and 3 buttons to rotate through options. The LEFT digit controls the Flashing Light Alert; the RIGHT digit controls the Audible Alert. A flashing digit = inactive; a solid digit = active. Release the 1 and 3 buttons at your desired setting.

    Loading Medication

Medication dispenses in the exact order it's loaded — do not skip slots. Loading rings assist with 3x/4x daily regimens.

    • 1x/day: Load each cup counterclockwise, starting directly right of the bottom empty cup.
    • 2x/day: Load the next dose right of the empty bottom cup, then the 2nd dose to the right of that; repeat the 1-2 pattern counterclockwise.
    • 3x/day: Follow the same pattern for 3 doses (1-2-3), continuing counterclockwise.
    • 4x/day: Follow the same pattern for 4 doses (1-2-3-4), continuing counterclockwise.

Refilling the MR-357: Press the TIME SET button and Alarm 1 together until the clock face flashes, to send a dispenser refill complete event to the server.

    Replacing the Blue Lid

Before replacing, ensure the white T-BAR on the Red Cover is pushed up toward the arrow, the round key is in the lock in the open/horizontal position, and the medication door on the Blue Lid is closed. Place the lid on slightly rotated clockwise (about an inch, matching the removal position). With the unit facing you, hold at 9 and 3 o'clock, depress slightly, and rotate counterclockwise about an inch until the tabs slide under the base tabs. Rotate the key counterclockwise to the closed/vertical position and remove.

    Other Settings and Functions

    • Early Dosage: Press and hold MIN for ~4 seconds to rotate the tray to the next dose; the first alarm light flashes until dose time. Usable up to 4 times. To cancel in error, hold Alarm 2 & 3 until it beeps for 1 second.
    • Away Mode: Hold HOUR for ~4 seconds to turn the dispenser off (display shows "OFF", alarms disabled, clock keeps time). Hold HOUR again to resume normal operation.
    • Alarm Test: Use to test the dispensing rotation. Slide the white T-BAR up to shut off the alarm.

    Troubleshooting

    Symptom Cause / Fix

Alarm rings but tray doesn't rotate Battery not plugged in. Disconnect AC power — only the colon should blink if battery is connected.

Alarm lights blinking Early dose was triggered — hold Alarm 2 & 3 for several seconds to clear.
