Quick install guide for the Luxul XWS-1810 Wireless Controller System — includes the XWC-1000 AC1200 dual-band wireless controller and two XAP-810 access points.

Before You Begin Installation

• Access Point Firmware: If using APs other than those included in the kit, ensure firmware is v5 or newer (see luxul.com/ap-upgrade).
• Controller Setup Sequence: Set up the XWC-1000 Wireless Controller before powering up the APs. Once logged in, the Setup Wizard will prompt you to add APs. A DHCP server is required on the network.
• Accessibility: Once an AP is managed by the XWC-1000, its standalone web interface functionality is reduced. To switch an AP between Controller-managed and standalone, restore it to Factory Default.
• Firmware Updates: The XWC-1000 automatically checks for firmware updates for itself and compatible APs, but requires internet access to do so — it will still operate offline, just without updates.
• Access Point Placement: Ensure adequate coverage without excessive overlap. APs should overlap enough that a client sees a good connection to its current AP plus a signal from the next-nearest AP. Ideally roaming clients see signal strength of -60 to -70 dBm from two overlapping APs at the midway point. 1. Physical Installation

The XWC-1000 and XAP-810 are designed for simple, efficient installation. XAP-810 APs can be ceiling-mounted, wall-mounted, or placed on a desktop/shelf. The XWC-1000 can be rack-mounted or placed on a horizontal surface.

• Caution: Attach the rubber feet to the AP mount, and attach the mount to the AP for flat-surface placement, to avoid overheating and failure.
• Connecting Devices: The XWC-1000 simply connects to the network. The XAP-810 APs connect via the included PoE injectors or an 802.3at-compliant PoE switch.

2. Preparing for Access — IP Addressing

• If the XWC-1000 is on a network using a 192.168.0.X address scheme and your computer shares that subnet, skip ahead to Getting Connected.
• If not, you'll need to manually change your computer's IP address to the same subnet as the XWC-1000 in order to configure it. See luxul.com/ip-addressing for OS-specific instructions.
• Note: Ensure a DHCP server is present on the network and that all Luxul APs and the XWC-1000 share the same subnet.

3. Getting Connected

1. Open a web browser and enter the Wireless Controller's default IP address: 192.168.0.19
2. Log in with the default credentials — Username: admin, Password: admin

Caution: If another device on the network is already using 192.168.0.19, temporarily disconnect/reconfigure that device, or manually configure the Wireless Controller with a different address on a separate isolated network.

4. Wireless Controller Configuration

Follow the built-in Setup Wizard, which walks you through creating a configuration profile, then automatically configures and manages all available APs on the same network. You can add or remove APs from the managed profile at any time.

5. Hardware Operation — Wireless Controller

• Selecting front-panel LED color: Use the switch on the rear panel to switch the Power and System LEDs between green and blue to match your rack equipment.
• Reset/Reboot: Use a paper clip to briefly press and release the Reset button on the rear panel to force a reboot. Front panel LEDs go dark, then the System LED blinks slowly while rebooting.
• Restore Factory Defaults: Press and hold Reset for at least 5 seconds. The System LED blinks quickly to confirm the reset is underway, goes dark briefly, then blinks slowly while booting.
• Normal Operation: The System LED blinks like a heartbeat (blink-blink-pause) when operating normally.
• Caution: Pressing and holding Reset restores the Wireless Controller to factory default and removes any custom configuration.

5. Hardware Operation — Wireless Access Points

LED Indicators

• Power LED ON (green) = XAP-810 is working. OFF = not receiving power, or LED disabled in the AP's web interface. Blinking = booting.
• Two blue LEDs indicate the 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks are configured and broadcasting.

Reset Button

Located underneath the mount, marked RESET. Used to reboot the AP or restore factory default settings.

• To Reboot: With the AP powered on, press and release the Reset button.
• To Restore Defaults: Press and hold Reset for at least 5 seconds, then release — the LED flashes rapidly and the AP resets to factory defaults.
• Caution: Pressing and holding Reset restores the AP to factory default and removes any custom configuration.

PoE Injector

If the green ON LED is illuminated, power is connected to the injector. If not lit, the injector is not receiving power.
