Linear ChannelPlus TC-200A Tilt Compensator — Installation Instructions

Installation instructions for the Linear ChannelPlus Model TC-200A Tilt Compensator — an in-line RG-6 coax filter that corrects for high-frequency signal loss on long cable runs feeding an amplifier.

Product Description

Coaxial cable attenuates high frequencies more than low frequencies. This problem becomes most severe when cascading amplifiers one after another — the signal differences get attenuated to the point where high-frequency signals become too small, compared to low-frequency signals, to be received. The TC-200A Tilt Compensator creates an attenuation loss equal and opposite to cable loss, providing a balanced signal level by compensating for 200 feet of coax cable loss. This keeps all channel signal levels at equal amplitude at distant locations, maintaining picture quality on the higher channels.

The TC-200A works with RG-6 coax cable carrying signals in the 5 MHz to 1 GHz range. It is non-directional — the input can be connected to either end. A female barrel connector is included for in-line applications.

When to Use It

When an RG-6 cable run reaches 200 feet and an amplifier stage follows, install a TC-200A Tilt Compensator between the 200-foot cable run and the amplifier.

Example Application

Typical whole-home distribution setup:

1. Signal comes in from an antenna or CATV feed.
2. A short RG-6 run carries the signal to the TC-200A Tilt Compensator's input.
3. From the TC-200A output, a 200-foot RG-6 run feeds an amplifier (e.g., ChannelPlus Model DA-500A for antenna signals, or DA-520A for CATV signals — other ChannelPlus models are also compatible).
4. From the amplifier's output, a 200-foot RG-6 run feeds a 2-way splitter.
5. The splitter distributes the signal out to two TVs.

The TC-200A can be connected in-line between coax runs using the female barrel connector supplied, or mounted directly on the amplifier.

Connecting the TC-200A

The unit has two RG-6 connections (input and output, either can serve either role since it's non-directional). Use the included female barrel connector to splice the TC-200A in-line between two coax cable segments, or mount it directly on an amplifier's input.

Warranty covers repair or replacement of products returned freight-prepaid to Linear LLC — labor costs are not covered. Excludes failures from product abuse (negligence, improper use, electrical surge including lightning damage, water damage, or natural disaster damage) and voids if the date code or labels are tampered with.
