    Overview

    Leviton's PoE Midspans provide 48 volts of DC power over standard Ethernet cabling, eliminating the need for an external AC power source and associated wiring. Power over Ethernet is a safe, cost-effective, reliable way to power Voice over IP phones, wireless LAN access points, IP network video cameras, and other PoE-enabled devices in enterprise installations. The family includes a 1-port unit (M3001) and rack-mountable 6-port (M3006) and 24-port (M3024) units.

    Design Considerations

    • Maximum distance from the Midspan to the powered device should not exceed 100 meters
    • The 1-port PoE Midspan is intended for 10/100 Mbps applications powering 802.3af compliant devices
    • The 6- and 24-port PoE Midspans are intended for 10/100/1000 Mbps applications powering 802.3af compliant devices
    • Midspans only provide 48V DC power to devices compliant with the IEEE 802.3af "Power over Ethernet" standard
    • All cabling/components should be compliant with TIA/EIA-568 Standards, at minimum Category 5 rated
