Leviton D2ELV — Decora Smart ELV/LED Dimmer Installation Instructions

Getting Started Guide for the Leviton Decora Smart Wi-Fi ELV/LED Phase Selectable Dimmer (Cat. No. D2ELV) — easy Wi-Fi dimming control for Electronic Low-Voltage lighting such as undercabinet, toe kick, track, and accent lighting.

Overview

The Decora Smart Wi-Fi ELV/LED Dimmer adds smart dimming control to Electronic Low-Voltage lighting. It includes bulb-compatibility options via the My Leviton app to fine tune performance, such as forward/reverse phase selection, minimum dim/maximum bright settings, fade on/fade off, and more. Works with Matter, Amazon Alexa, Google Home, Apple Home/Siri, and more.

Important Notes

• Works with electronic low-voltage, dimmable LED, dimmable CFL, and incandescent lighting.
• Do NOT use with magnetic low-voltage lighting or motor loads.
• Not for use with aluminum wire — use copper or copper-clad wire only.
• Installation in metal wall boxes or with metal wall plates may result in poor RF performance.
• When two or more dimmers are installed next to each other, load ratings become 500W incandescent or 500W ELV for each dimmer; no reduction is necessary if the load is LED or CFL.
• Indoor use only.
• Neutral connection is required for operation.

Ratings

At a Glance

• Dim/bright bar: manually adjust light levels
• Rocker: press top to turn light ON, bottom to turn OFF; double-press the top to turn ON at max brightness
• Off means off: ensures low-wattage LED bulbs always turn off
• Brightness indicator lights: displays light level when adjusting
• Status LED: illuminates when lights are off so you can find the dimmer in the dark; connectivity/status feedback
• Air gap switch: gently pull the bottom out until a click is heard to stop power to the dimmer for servicing; push back in for normal operation

Installation

WARNING: TO AVOID FIRE, SHOCK OR DEATH, turn off power at the circuit breaker before wiring. Installation requires electrical knowledge — if unsure of any step, consult an electrician.

1. Remove the wallplate and disconnect the existing switch. Restore power and carefully test wires with a voltage tester to find the line (hot) wire, then turn power off again at the circuit breaker.
2. Mark the wires. Neutral wires (required) are typically white and found bundled inside the electrical box. The YELLOW/RED traveler wire is only used in 3-way applications — cap it with a wire connector even if not in use.
3. Single pole: connect Line, Load, Neutral, and Ground wires using the included wire connectors, working one connection at a time.
4. Restore power — the Status LED should flash GREEN, indicating the dimmer is ready to be enrolled. After confirming it receives power, turn power back off at the breaker before completing installation.
5. Gently push wires into the wallbox, screw the dimmer to the box.
6. Snap on the Decora® wallplate and restore power. The Status LED will blink GREEN, indicating setup mode.

To control from more than one location (3-way or multi-way), you need either a wired DD00R or DD0SR Companion device, or a wire-free DAWDC/DAWSC Anywhere Companion device (up to 4 companions, max wire length 300 ft/90 m). The D2ELV is NOT compatible with standard 3-way or 4-way switches.

Device Setup / Connectivity

• Connect to the My Leviton cloud, to a Matter controller/hub, or to both
• Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, Apple Siri, and Samsung SmartThings can be set up via My Leviton or directly via Matter
• Download the My Leviton app at my.leviton.com and add the device via the "+" icon

Dimming Mode (ELV/LED Selection)

The dimmer is designed for Electronic Low Voltage (ELV) lighting out of the box, using reverse phase dimming by default. To switch to LED lighting/forward phase dimming at the device:

1. Press the top rocker 7 times in sequence.
2. The status LED will briefly flash GREEN (ELV/reverse phase mode) or RED (LED/forward phase mode).

Anywhere Companion Pairing (Optional)

1. Place the Anywhere Companion in Pairing mode by pressing the top rocker 5 times (Status LED blinks GREEN).
2. Place the primary Decora Smart Wi-Fi Dimmer into Pairing mode by pressing the top rocker 5 times (Status LED flashes GREEN/AMBER).
3. The dimmer automatically pairs to the Companion in RF range; Status LED quickly flashes GREEN to confirm.

Factory Default Reset

1. Hold the top rocker for a total of 14 seconds. After the first 7 seconds, the status LED turns AMBER — continue holding.
2. After a total of 14 seconds, the status LED quickly flashes RED/AMBER.
3. Release the top rocker and the device resets.

Troubleshooting

• Light turns on but dimmer can't change level: confirm line, neutral, load, and ground are all connected; confirm the WHITE conductor is a neutral; if using LED/CFL bulbs, make sure they're dimmable.
• Doesn't dim low enough or flickers: use the My Leviton app to raise the minimum dim level; confirm wires are secured firmly; confirm load type and switch dimming mode between forward/reverse phase.
• Light does not turn on: check for a tripped breaker/fuse; confirm neutral (WHITE) wire is connected; confirm 120V/60Hz AC source only.
• Intermittent operation: confirm the load does not exceed its ratings.
• Not connected to Wi-Fi: use the My Leviton app "Device Settings" > "Reconfigure Wireless" and follow the prompts.
• Cleaning: use a damp cloth with mild soap. Do NOT use disinfecting products, foggers, sprays, or other atomized cleaning agents.

Safety

WARNINGS: To avoid fire, shock, or death, turn off power at the circuit breaker or fuse before wiring. To avoid fire, personal injury, or property damage, do not install to control a receptacle, motor, or transformer-operated appliance. Indoor use only.

CAUTIONS: Use with compatible 120V dimmable LED/CFL bulbs, incandescent, halogen, or electronic low-voltage (ELV, solid state) transformers only — DO NOT use with magnetic low-voltage (MLV) fixtures/transformers. Do not mix bulb types when multiple bulbs share one dimmer. Recommended minimum wallbox depth is 2-3/4 in. The dimmer may feel warm to the touch during normal operation.
