Leviton 47609-TSV — Telephone Security Module and 6-Way Video Splitter Instructions

Installation instructions for the Leviton 47609-TSV/47603-TSV Telephone Security Module and Compact Series Telephone Security and 6-Way Video Splitter — distributes telephone lines with an optional security interface, and (on the TSV combo unit) splits coax video to 6 outputs.

Telephone Security Module — Description

Leviton's Telephone Security Module distributes four telephone lines to seven locations with the option to route Line 1 through a security interface. Featuring a security jack, security interface switch, and eight bridged 110 D4 connectors, this module is designed to easily fit inside a Leviton Structured Media™ Center (SMC).

Dial tone sources must be terminated on the first 110 connector, labeled "From Demarcation." UTP cables from outlets throughout the house route back to the SMC and may be terminated on the other seven 110 connectors. The dial tones present on the first connector will be routed to the outlets in each room. If there are more than seven outlets, the bottom IDC can be used to jumper to Leviton's Telephone Expansion Board.

Compact Series Telephone Security and 6-Way Video Splitter — Description

Leviton's Compact Series Telephone Security and 6-Way Video Splitter (Part No. 47609-TSV) features the Telephone Security Module and combines a 6-Way Video Splitter on one easy-to-install compact bracket.

Installation (Compact Series Panel or Stand-Alone Module)

Mounting the Bracket

Align the mounting pins with the grid holes on the back of the enclosure. Both units can be mounted vertically or horizontally. With the mounting pin plungers in the "out" position, press the unit into the grid in the desired location and secure by pushing the plungers in.

Telephone Security Module — General Wiring

Dial tone sources must be terminated on the first 110 connector, labeled "From Demarcation." If there are more than seven outlets, the bottom IDC can be used to jumper to Leviton's Telephone Expansion Board.

110 IDC Wiring Termination

Using an industry-standard punchdown tool, wire the 110 IDC connectors per the T568A wiring configuration. The wall jack should also comply with this configuration.

Note: Blue = Line 1, Orange = Line 2, Green = Line 3, Brown = Line 4.

Security Interface

When the security interface switch is "on," it activates the security jack to integrate an alarm system with this module. It re-routes Line 1 (blue pair) through the top 8P8C connector out to the alarm panel. When it's in the "off" position, Line 1 is routed directly to the bridged 110 connectors.

Note: If a security system is not used in conjunction with the Telephone Security Module, turn the security interface switch to the "off" position.

Cabling the 6-Way Video Splitter (PN# 47609-TSV)

Route coaxial video cables (RG6 Quad-Shield recommended) into the SMC. These cables may output to various wallplates in the house, or take an input from a video source such as an antenna or Cable TV feed.

1. Terminate each coaxial cable with a male F-Connector, per that product's installation guide.
2. Route the Video Input cable from Cable TV, antenna, etc., to the connector labeled "IN," located in the center of the splitter.
3. Route cables to the connectors (on the splitter) labeled "OUT" for the various rooms and wallplates.

Note: Leviton recommends capping unused outputs with a 75-Ohm termination cap (sold separately).
