    Installation instructions and specifications for Leviton's Key Lock Switches — a line of tamper-resistant toggle switches that require a physical key to operate, ideal for restricting access to lighting circuits, motors, or other 120/277V loads.

    Safety Warnings

    • To avoid fire, shock, or death: turn off power at the circuit breaker or fuse and test that power is off before wiring.
    • Install and use in accordance with appropriate electrical codes and regulations. If unsure about any part of these instructions, consult an electrician.
    • Use only with copper or copper-clad wire.
    • Do not use disinfecting sprays, foggers, or other atomized cleaning agents on the device. Do not spray liquid onto the product — clean with a damp cloth and mild soap only.

    Installation Steps

    1. Remove the existing wallplate and switch or dimmer, if applicable.
    2. Side Wire: Strip approximately 3/4" (1.9 cm) of insulation from each circuit conductor. Loop wires clockwise 3/4 turn around the terminal screws and tighten to the proper torque value (see Leviton.com/torquevalue). Side-wire terminals accept up to #12 AWG copper or copper-clad wire.
    3. Back Wire: Strip approximately 1/2" (1.3 cm) of insulation. Insert straight wire ends under the clamps next to the appropriate terminal screws and tighten to proper torque. Back-wire terminals accept up to #10 AWG copper or copper-clad wire.
    4. Mount the device into an outlet box with a minimum depth of 2-3/4" (7.0 cm) using the long mounting screws provided.
    5. Mount the wallplate and tighten the cover screws.
    6. Restore power at the circuit breaker or fuse. Installation is complete.
