    Installation instructions for the Inovonics EN6040 EchoStream® Network Coordinator — a gateway that uses reliable frequency-hopping, spread-spectrum technology to coordinate signals between end devices, high-power repeaters, and the application controller in a common serial data format.

    Select the Frequency Band

    EchoStream products can use a range of radio frequencies and must be configured for your geographic area:

    1. Use a small screwdriver to press the housing release tab and separate the housing.
    2. Place a selection jumper on the appropriate frequency band selection pins:
      • Jumper on the left two pins (marked AUS) → 915–928 MHz for Australia
      • Jumper on the right two pins (marked NZ) → 921–928 MHz for New Zealand
      • Jumper off the pins → 902–928 MHz for North America
    3. If the network coordinator is already powered on, press Reset to apply the configuration.

    Connect Cabling

    Caution: Long cable runs should not be adjacent to high-current power feeds. Keep cable lengths as short as possible to minimize noise pickup. Measure voltage at the network coordinator on long cable runs.

    1. Power cabling → connect to the power terminal. Requirements: 2-conductor 20 AWG (or larger) stranded-tinned copper with PVC insulation rated to 300 volts at 26°C (80°F) — e.g. Belden #8205. Maximum cable length: 30.5 m (100 ft.).
    2. Serial cable → connect to the serial data terminal. Maximum cable length: 15.25 m (50 ft.).
    3. Tamper switch cable (if an external tamper switch is needed) → connect to the tamper terminal. Maximum cable length: 100 m (328 ft.).
    4. Route all cabling through the side cabling knockout.

    Mount the Network Coordinator

    Caution: Mount in a location removed from metal — duct work, wire mesh screens, and metal boxes will reduce RF range.

    1. Use the provided anchors and screws to mount in a location accessible for future maintenance.
    2. Close the network coordinator housing.

    Operation

    Caution: Test the EchoStream system regularly. To test, place the system in test mode, activate an end device, and confirm an appropriate response.

    LED Indicators

    • Serial Receive LED: Lit when receiving serial data from the application controller
    • Serial Transmit LED: Lit when transmitting serial data to the application controller
    • RF Receive LED: Lit when receiving an RF transmission from another Inovonics Wireless device
    • RF Transmit LED: Lit when transmitting an RF transmission to an end device or high-power repeater
    • Power LED: Lit when the network coordinator is receiving power

    Controls

    • Reset: Press to restart the network coordinator after a configuration change
    • Tamper Switch: Sends an alarm when the network coordinator housing is opened

    Warranty

    Inovonics Wireless Corporation warrants its products to conform to their own specifications and be free of material/workmanship defects under normal use for 24 months from the date of manufacture. Within the warranty period, Inovonics will repair or replace, at its option, all or any part of the warranted product (dismantling/reinstallation charges are not covered). To exercise the warranty, work through your authorized distributor, who will obtain a Return Material Authorization (RMA) number from Inovonics.

    This warranty is void in cases of improper installation, misuse, failure to follow instructions, alteration, accident, tampering, or repair by anyone other than Inovonics. The warranty is exclusive and in lieu of all other warranties; Inovonics is not liable for incidental, consequential, indirect, special, or exemplary damages, including loss of profit, revenue, use, or business interruption, nor for damage caused by third-party products/accessories (including batteries) used with Inovonics products.
