Installation instructions for the Inovonics EN1721 Integrated Temperature/Humidity Transmitter — a wireless EchoStream sensor designed for ambient (non-condensing) environments.

    Overview

The EN1721 is designed for ambient environments where condensation, frost, or extreme temperature/humidity fluctuations are not a concern. Note: the humidity sensor may take up to six weeks to acclimate to its new environment after manufacturing, and can exhibit an accuracy variance of +/-2% during that time.

    Components

    • A. Frequency band selection pins
    • B. Programming header
    • C. Reset button

    Installation and Startup

    Install/Replace the Battery

    1. Pry the top lip of the mounting bracket up, and lift the bracket off of the transmitter.
    2. Use your thumb to depress the housing release tab on the bottom of the transmitter; separate the housing.
    3. If replacing a battery, use the hole in the back of the housing to push the old battery out of the battery holder.
    4. Install the new battery (Panasonic CR123A or equivalent).
    5. Press the Reset button to initialize the transmitter.

    Select the Frequency Band

EchoStream products can use a range of radio frequencies and must be configured for your geographic area:

    • Jumper on the top two pins (marked NZ) — 921-928 MHz for New Zealand.
    • Jumper on the bottom two pins (marked AU) — 915-928 MHz for Australia.
    • No jumper installed — 902-928 MHz for North America (default).

After setting the jumper, press the Reset button to complete configuration.

Caution: When pressing the Reset button, make sure you don't also touch the frequency band selection pins — doing so can inadvertently set the EN1721 to the wrong frequency band.

    Program the Transmitter

EN1721 transmitters are programmed at the factory and it's not usually necessary to reprogram them. If reprogramming is required, parameters can be changed using the programming header.

    Mount the Transmitter

    1. Attach the mounting bracket to the wall using either screws or double-sided tape. There are two mounting holes for standard installation, plus an optional third mounting hole located under the battery to secure the housing to the bracket.
    2. Hook the bottom of the transmitter into the bracket's bottom catch, and press the transmitter into the bracket so the bracket's top lip snaps into place.
