HomeSeer HomeTroller Plus (HT-PLUS) — Quick Start Guide

Overview

This quick start guide covers essential setup for the HomeSeer HomeTroller Plus (HT-PLUS), a dedicated home automation controller running HS4PRO software. It covers initial setup and registration, navigating the HS4 web interface, installing plugins, creating devices and events, remote access via MyHS, and the HomeSeer Mobile app.

Setup & Registration

1. Unpack the HomeTroller and AC power supply. Connect an Ethernet cable to the unit and to your router or network switch.
2. Connect the AC power supply and plug it in — the unit powers on automatically and HS4PRO launches on its own.
3. From another device on your network, open a browser and go to find.homeseer.com (the System Finder). Under "Select System," click the link HomeTrollerPlusG1. If your system doesn't appear, wait 5 minutes and refresh — see "Alternate Ways to Access Your System" below if it still doesn't show.
4. Enter your HS4 License ID & Password, create your HS4 web user account, and follow the prompts to click FINISH. If upgrading from HS3, you'll also be prompted for your HS3 software codes.

Navigation Overview

HS4 is a mobile-friendly web application usable on any browser-equipped device. Core functions live in the main navigation bar:

• Devices — add, remove, and edit smart home devices.
• Events — manage smart home automations.
• Cameras — view live feeds and recordings.
• Setup — manage system settings.
• Tools — access timers, counters, backup, logs, and more.
• Plugins — manage HS4 integration plugins.

Installing Plugins

Plugins let HS4 integrate with specific smart devices/technologies (e.g. a Philips Hue plugin for Hue bulbs).

1. Open the HS4 web interface and navigate to the Plugins/Add page. Click the desired plugin, then click INSTALL.
2. After installation, click the button in the lower right corner to enable the plugin. Check the plugin's own documentation for setup details.

Creating Devices

Devices are the fundamental building blocks of any HS4 system — adding a smart product creates a corresponding device. Device attributes display as Features; some are controllable, others simply display values or status. Devices are added through the controls built into each plugin — refer to plugin documentation for specifics.

Creating Events

Events are automation rules comprised of at least one Trigger and one Action, with optional Conditions applied to any trigger (e.g. "turn on the living room lamp at sunset on Tuesdays").

MyHS — Remote Access & Integrations

MyHS provides remote access to your HS4 system and integrates with cloud services like Amazon Alexa, Google Home, and IFTTT. MyHS Basic is free; Premium paid plans offer additional features.

Registering a New MyHS Account

1. Visit myhs.homeseer.com and click Register. Use the same email/password as your HS4 web user account, and enter your HS4 license ID and password — this becomes your primary license.
2. You'll receive a verification email with a confirmation link (check spam if it doesn't arrive). Click it to log in and connect via the MyHS web page.

Updating an Existing MyHS Account (from HS3)

1. Visit myhs.homeseer.com, log in, and select Manage Account.
2. Click Change Primary System, then enter your old license ID/password and your new one.

HomeSeer Mobile App

Download the HomeSeer Mobile app (Android or iOS) to control smart devices, launch HS4 events, access cameras, and build custom dashboards.

1. Launch HomeSeer Mobile and select "Log in to MyHS."
2. Enter your MyHS account credentials; tap "Remember Me" to skip login next time.
3. Tap Log In to connect to your system.

Alternate Ways to Access Your System

If System Finder is blocked by your network, use one of these alternatives:

• Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP): HomeTroller Plus units ship with RDP enabled. From another PC on your network, open Remote Desktop Connection and connect to HomeTrollerPlusG1. Username: homeseer, Password: hsthsths4. RDP works on Macs too — see docs.homeseer.com for instructions.
• Keyboard, Mouse & Monitor: Connect these directly to the HomeTroller Plus to access HS4 locally. Bookmark your system in the browser for easier future access.
