Bracket Sizing Guide for the Havenlock Sliding Glass Door Kit (SGDK) — helps you determine which of the two available SGDK bracket options fits your sliding glass door frame before ordering or installing.

What a Properly Installed SGDK Looks Like

    • The lock is centered in the middle of the internally-framed sliding glass door when closed (slider on the inside of the house).
    • The bracket is pushed up against the sliding glass door frame, with any toe molding removed. (See Havenlock's YouTube channel for a toe-molding removal video.)

    Kit Options at a Glance

Both kits work on left- and right-hand internally framed sliding doors (not externally framed doors), and each kit comes with one bracket, two screws, and one strip of VHB tape. The two options differ only in bracket depth:

    • Option A: 3/4 in. depth
    • Option B: 1.5 in. depth

Step 1: Determine If You Need Additional Risers

Check your frame height to determine if lock risers are needed. Each riser is 1/8" thick (every Havenlock ships with one riser included).

    • Frame height 1.5"–2": you may need 1–2 risers
    • Frame height greater than 2": you'll need multiple risers
    • Frame height less than 1.5": you likely won't need a riser

Note: Some frames are taller than others and may require additional risers.

Step 2: Determine Which Kit Option Works for You

To choose the right bracket, place a penny (3/4" diameter) flat against the top of your frame ledge to gauge the frame depth:

    • Choose Option A if the frame depth is smaller than a penny.
    • Choose Option B if the frame depth is equal to or larger than a penny.
    • Neither kit will work if the frame depth is larger than 1.5 inches — contact support@havenlock.com for other options.

For detailed step-by-step install instructions, check Havenlock's install guide and installation video, both available on the product page.
