Specification and installation sheet for the HAI Model 1101A Programmable Energy Saver Module (PESM) for HVAC energy setback automation.
Specification and installation sheet for the HAI Model 1101A Programmable Energy Saver Module (PESM) — a temperature sensor and control relay for HVAC energy setback automation.
The Model 1101A PESM is a temperature sensor and control relay in a small enclosure that mounts near a central HVAC system's thermostat. It allows the automation system to read the temperature of the area the HVAC system controls. The PESM's relay breaks the 24V RED wire between the thermostat and the HVAC system: when the automation system is in setback mode and the actual temperature is between the LOW and HI setpoints, the relay energizes to break the 24V red wire, stopping the HVAC system from operating.
The Red LED on the PESM illuminates when it is overriding the thermostat, and is off when the thermostat is working normally. The PESM also doubles as a freeze sensor, which can trigger the controller to dial out in the event of a freeze condition or furnace failure. If disconnected from the automation system, the relay does not energize and the HVAC system operates normally under thermostat control.
Note: Refer to the controller's installation manual for complete installation instructions.
