Installation Instructions for the GE Security PrecisionLine RCR-PET dual-technology (radar + PIR) motion sensor with pet immunity up to 80 lbs.
Installation Instructions for the GE Security PrecisionLine RCR-PET Dual Technology Motion Sensor — a pet-immune (up to 80 lbs.) combination range-controlled radar (RCR) and passive infrared (PIR) motion detector for use with UL-listed security control panels.
The PrecisionLine RCR-PET combines radar (RCR) technology with a PIR system to increase false-alarm immunity by sensing human-sized objects within a specified range. Both the RCR and PIR systems must be triggered together to set off an alarm. The sensor runs on a 12VDC power supply provided by a UL-listed control panel.
The sensor covers a 90° radius, with radar/PIR range settings selectable at 9', 18', 27', or 35 feet (2.7m / 5.5m / 8.2m / 10.7m) from the sensor, both in top-down and side-view coverage patterns. Side-view coverage extends down to floor level at increasing distance from the mount, tapering off around 4° elevation at the maximum 35' range.
All wiring must conform to the National Electric Code (NEC) and/or applicable local codes.
Important: Do NOT use this device for safety interlock applications.
Use the jumper to cover the center pin and the pin for the desired range:
Important: Set J2 as close to the intended coverage range as possible — overshooting the coverage area may cause false alarms.
When mounted properly, the RCR-PET provides false-alarm immunity to dogs and similar animals. Immunity depends on the animal's size, temperature, and coat length — a warm-blooded, short-haired dog is less immune to false alarms than a similarly-sized dog with a longer coat, so short-haired dogs must be smaller/lighter to remain covered.
| Long Hair (2" coat, up to 80 lbs.) | Medium Hair (1.5" coat, up to 50 lbs.) | Short Hair (1" coat, up to 30 lbs.) | Not Recommended (use pet-alley application) |

| LED Color | Status |
|---|---|
| Red | PIR and RCR detection — sensor in alarm, relay switched |
| Green | PIR detection only (no alarm) |
| Yellow | RCR detection only (no alarm) |
After 30 minutes, the LED only indicates an alarm condition. Drop power to reset the walk-test timer.
SB01 Swivel-Mount Bracket — an optional ceiling-mount swivel bracket for ceiling-mount applications requiring 90° coverage.
When installed and used properly, the sensor provides years of service with minimal maintenance. Walk-test the sensor annually to ensure proper operation.
