Operating manual for the FIBARO SWIPE gesture controller, model FGGC-001 — a battery-powered, photo-frame-styled Z-Wave Plus device that controls a smart home via touchless hand gestures.

FIBARO is a wireless smart home automation system based on the Z-Wave protocol, controllable from a PC, Mac, smartphone, or tablet. Non-battery Z-Wave devices act as signal repeaters, extending network range beyond direct line-of-sight. Every FIBARO network has a unique Home ID, so multiple independent networks can coexist in one building without interference.
FIBARO Swipe is a battery-powered gesture control pad that lets you control Z-Wave devices without touching anything — swipe up, down, left, right, use a circular gesture, or chain gestures into sequences for full, intuitive home control. It's designed to resemble a picture frame and can be personalized with your own photo. A gesture-controlled menu lets you add, remove, or reset the device without dismounting it, and a built-in buzzer confirms every recognized gesture.
Adding (Inclusion): Place the Swipe within controller range, set the controller to add mode, hold your hand to the pad, wait for entry into learning mode (2 green beeps), swipe up to confirm. Success = controller message + 3 short green beeps. Security-mode adding must be performed within 2 meters of the controller. If adding fails, reset the device and repeat.
Removing (Exclusion): Same procedure with the controller in remove mode. Success = controller message + 2 short beeps, pause, 1 short beep (red). Removing restores all default parameters.

Reset restores factory settings, deleting all controller and user configuration — use only if the primary controller is missing or inoperable; it's not the recommended removal method.

Up to 6 sequences of 2–3 basic gestures (up/down/left/right) can be created, each stored in advanced parameters 31–36 as a 16-bit value (4 bits per gesture position: reserved, first, second, third). Two identical gestures cannot be used back-to-back, and each sequence must be unique.
Formula: Parameter value = 256 × first gesture value + 16 × second gesture value + third gesture value (values: 0=empty, 1=up, 2=down, 3=left, 4=right). For a 2-gesture sequence, set the third gesture field to 0. Setting the parameter to 0 deletes the sequence.
Automatic learning: set parameter 30 to the target slot number (1–6), wake the device (menu position 1), then perform the desired sequence during the constant-beeping learning window.
Via Home Center interface: open the device's options, drag-and-drop 2–3 gestures to build the sequence, confirm, wake the device, then click "New Reaction" next to the sequence to assign a controlled device and its reaction.
The Swipe auto-updates its powering mode (interval set by parameter 5) after a supply change. Detected gestures are sent immediately regardless of mode; configuration/association updates only happen at wake-up.
Power saving: on battery, the device enters Standby Mode (low-pitch beep) after 5 seconds of inactivity, reducing detection range/frequency. To exit: move your hand near the pad center, wait for the high-pitch beep, then move away.
A service button on the back (requires dismounting the device) can drive the menu without gestures: power via micro-USB, press and hold button B until the loud sound sequence confirms menu entry, wait for the desired position (1/2/3 short beeps as above), release, then click the button to confirm the selection.
Association lets the Swipe directly control other Z-Wave devices (dimmers, relay switches, roller shutters, scenes) without going through the main controller, provided devices are in direct range. Six association groups are available:

Groups 2–6 support up to 5 regular or multichannel devices each; Lifeline supports only 1. More than 10 total associated devices is not recommended, as response time can suffer.
To add: open the device's Advanced tab in Home Center, specify group and target devices, then wait for configuration to propagate (can take a few minutes; wake the device manually via menu position 1 to speed it up).
