    User manual for the Ezlo PSE02 Multiple Sound Siren, a wireless Z-Wave Plus siren with built-in tamper detection and OTA firmware update support.

    Overview

    The PSE02 is a wireless siren based on Z-Wave Plus technology, supporting security functions, OTA firmware updates, and the latest Z-Wave protocol features. It adopts the Z-Wave 500 series chip, giving networks made up entirely of 500-series devices better concurrent multi-channel support, roughly 10 meters more indoor RF range, and 100 Kbps transmit speed.

    Like any Z-Wave certified device, the PSE02 can join and operate in a mixed-vendor Z-Wave network, with all non-battery nodes acting as repeaters to boost network reliability.

    Controls

    The device has two physical controls on the back: a tamper key and a circle button. Either can be used to add, remove, reset, or associate the device on the Z-Wave network.

    Add (Inclusion) Put the Z-Wave controller in inclusion mode, then press the tamper key 3 times within 1.5 seconds. LED lights for 1 second on success.
    Remove (Exclusion) Put the controller in exclusion mode, then press the tamper key 3 times within 1.5 seconds. Use only if the primary controller is lost or inoperable.
    Reset Press the tamper key 4 times within 1.5 seconds, holding on the 4th press (LED lights). After 3 seconds LED turns off; release within 2 seconds of that for a successful factory reset (LED flashes once if it failed).
    Association Put the controller in association mode, then press the tamper key 3 times within 1.5 seconds. Supports 1 group (up to 8 nodes) for tamper/event reporting.

    Adding to a Z-Wave Network

    Make sure the primary controller is in add mode, then power on the device. It auto-starts Network Wide Inclusion (NWI) mode and should be included within 5 seconds (LED lights for 1 second on success). NWI mode times out after 3 minutes; press the tamper key or circle button 3 times to abort it early. Always reset a Z-Wave device before adding it to a new network.

    Playing Sound & Notifications

    The siren can be triggered directly via SWITCH_BINARY_SET (0xFF plays the emergency sound, 0x00 stops it) or indirectly via NOTIFICATION_REPORT, which maps different alarm types to different sounds:

    By default the device sends a Notification Report to represent trigger events; this can be switched to a Sensor Binary Report by setting Configuration parameter 7, bit 4, to 1.

    Tamper & Siren State Reporting

    If the tamper key is pressed and held over 5 seconds, the device enters an alarm state; releasing it sends an unsolicited report to Group 1 nodes (Notification Type: Home Security 0x07, Event: Product covering removed 0x03; or Sensor Type: Tamper 0x08, Value: 0xFF). When the siren starts or stops playing, it also unsolicitedly reports to Group 1 (Sensor Type: General Purpose 0x01, Value 0xFF for start / 0x00 for stop).

    OTA Firmware Update

    The device supports Z-Wave firmware updates over the air. Remove the back cover first (the update will fail the hardware check otherwise), put the controller into firmware update mode, then press the front tamper key once to start. The LED flashes every 0.5 seconds during download — do not cut power during this time or the firmware will be corrupted. Once the LED stops flashing, power-cycle the device; wait about 30 seconds after powering off before re-plugging.

    Security Network Mode

    When included with a security controller, the device automatically switches to security mode, requiring the following command classes to be wrapped with the Security CC to respond: NOTIFICATION_V4, ASSOCIATION_V2, CONFIGURATION, SENSOR_BINARY_V2, SWITCH_BINARY, and BASIC.

    Manual Battery Shutdown

    If DC power drops, the device auto-switches to its optional backup battery. To fully shut the system down: press and hold the circle button, click the tamper key 3 times within 1.5 seconds, then release the circle button. LED flashes 3 times on success. Once shut down, the system stays off until DC power is restored.

    Key Configuration Parameters

    #7 – Customer Function (*persists across removal) Bit4: Notification Type — 0 = Notification Report, 1 = Sensor Binary Report. Other bits reserved.
    #29 – Disable Alarm 0 = Enable Alarm (default), 1 = Disable Alarm. Resets to 0 after every power-up.
    #31 – Alarm Duration 0–127, 1 tick = 30 seconds. Default 6 (3 minutes), max 63.5 minutes, 0 = never auto-stop.

    Disposal

    Do not dispose of this device as unsorted municipal waste; use separate collection facilities per local regulations to prevent hazardous substances from leaching into groundwater. Retailers are legally obligated to take back old appliances for disposal free of charge when replaced with new ones.
