Instructions for the Channel Vision P-1014, a 1x4 CAT5 Audio Distribution Module — the heart of a Channel Vision multi-room CAT5 audio system.
The P-1014 is a 1x4 distribution module that delivers power and audio signals to 4 amplified keypads (model AB-114 or AB-124). Four IR emitter outputs on the P-1014 allow IR signals detected by an AB-124 keypad to control source devices such as CD players and AM/FM tuners.
Ports: Local Input, System Input (from an AB-301, AB-202, or expansion output), optional Status power connection, and 24VDC power supply connection (included). Four Global IR emitters flash when any keypad in the system detects an IR signal.
Channel Vision's CAT5 Audio System uses Category 5 cable to distribute power, audio, and IR control signals. Power and line-level audio are delivered to keypads, which amplify the signal and distribute it to a pair of speakers. Keypads have IR sensors that detect signals from standard handheld remote controls; those IR signals are then transmitted through the CAT5 wire back to an input module, which activates IR emitters that recreate the remote's signal directly at the source device.
Make all connections before applying power. Most A/V receivers have a "Tape Monitor" or "Room 2" output that can feed directly into the local input on the P-1014. This input is audio-sensed, so the keypad mutes when no signal is present. Both 110 and RJ-45 connectors are provided for convenience, but only 4 amplified keypads (1 per zone) can be powered at any one time. The LED next to the active output lights when a keypad is connected.
When using an AB-202 with the P-1014, the local source input can serve as a secondary input that overrides signals from the AB-202 whenever audio is present — useful as a whole-house paging input (feeding a second source or paging system).
The Channel Vision P-1300 (Pro-series) is a hinged rack-mount plate designed for a standard 19" rack, purpose-built to house the P-1014 — it hinges open for a clean look and easy servicing access. Alternatively, the P-1014 can be mounted in a standard structured wiring enclosure or screwed directly to a wall/flat surface (cut or remove the nylon snap pin and install screws in the empty holes).
Channel Vision Technology will repair or replace any defect in material or workmanship occurring during normal use, with new or rebuilt parts, free of charge in the USA, for two years from the date of original purchase — no mail-in warranty card needed. Excludes shipping damage, failures caused by other manufacturers' products, and failures from accident, misuse, abuse, or alteration. Warranty applies only to the original purchaser; proof of purchase date is required for warranty repairs.
Mail-in service requires a Return Authorization number obtained in advance by calling (800) 840-0288 toll free.
