User's guide for the Channel Vision IR-1204 IR repeater hub, with 3 IR emitter outputs and support for up to 6 IR receivers.
User's guide for the Channel Vision IR-1204 — an IR repeater hub with 3 IR emitter outputs and support for up to 6 IR receivers, used to relay remote-control signals to source components hidden in a closet, cabinet, or equipment rack.
The IR-1204 is an IR (infrared) repeating hub. IR receivers are wired to the hub, which routes the received remote control signal to IR emitters. The emitters are attached directly over the source component's IR sensor and re-transmit the signal, letting users control components (TVs, DVD players, receivers, CD players, cable/satellite boxes, etc.) that are out of line-of-sight — for example, hidden behind cabinet doors or in another room.
The IR-1204 ships with: power supply, IR-1204 hub, and expansion/receiver inputs.
Point a standard IR remote control at the IR receiver. The receiver is wired to the IR hub, which routes the signal to the IR emitters. Each emitter repeats the IR signal in front of the target component. Be sure the emitter is attached directly over the component's IR receiver — to locate it, shine a flashlight into the unit and look for the sensor.
There are two valid methods for connecting IR receivers to the IR-1204:
To simplify connecting multiple IR receivers, a connecting block such as the Channel Vision C-1201 can be used — it provides connections for up to 8 IR receivers, allowing them all to connect to the IR-1204 (connect all S, G, and +V together).
Multiple IR-1204 hubs can be linked using a standard stereo mini-plug cable, with one power adaptor able to power both units. Using an IR-3002 splitter, up to 6, 12, or 24 IR emitters can be controlled depending on how many hubs are chained together (only the Signal and Ground lines are connected between chained units in this configuration). This scales the system to control many source components from a rack of equipment.
