Full instruction manual for the Channel Vision A0240, a compact 2-channel 40-watt Class D stereo amplifier used to power small audio systems or add supplemental power to low-power distributed audio setups.

    Overview

The A0240 can be used to power a small 1-room audio system, or integrated with Channel Vision's A0302 speaker-to-line-level converter to provide supplemental power to low-power distributed audio systems. Its compact size makes it easy to hide, and its versatile power plug allows direct wall plug-in or tabletop operation using the detachable power cable.

    Features

    • 40 Watts per channel
    • Compact size
    • Audio-sensing power shut-off to conserve energy
    • Easy installation

    Front Panel Controls

    • Power LED — lights when power is on
    • Signal LED — lights when an input signal is present
    • L/R Line Level Input Adjustments — adjust to limit the maximum input level
    • L/R Line Level Inputs — connect the source output here
    • Amp-Link — connect to Channel Vision's A0302
    • Speaker Outputs — connect speaker wires here
    • Removable Power Plug — allows direct plug-in, or can be removed and replaced with the standard 18" power cable (included)

    Safety Instructions

    1. Read and keep these instructions for future reference.
    2. Heed all warnings and follow all instructions.
    3. Do not use this device near water.
    4. Clean only with a dry cloth.
    5. Do not block ventilation openings; install per these instructions.
    6. Do not install near heat sources such as radiators, heat registers, stoves, or other heat-producing apparatus.
    7. Do not expose the unit to dripping or splashing, and do not place liquid-filled objects (such as vases) on it.
    8. Protect the power cord from being walked on or pinched, particularly at plugs and where it exits the apparatus.
    9. Unplug during lightning storms or when unused for long periods.
    10. Caution: Risk of electric shock — do not open. No user-serviceable parts inside; refer servicing to qualified personnel.

Using the A0240 with the A0302

The A0302 speaker-to-line-level converter is the perfect complement to the A0240. Using the Amp-Link connection, the A0302 can interrupt speaker-level audio from a low-power distributed system, convert it to line level to drive the A0240, and the amplified audio (40 watts/channel) is returned through the Amp-Link cable to power the speakers. Set the A0302's switch to "SPKRS IN" and place the switch in L/R mode to enable this configuration.

Using the A0240 as a Local Input Amplifier

The A0240 can also interrupt a whole-house audio source to amplify a local source device (such as a portable music player or TV). Adjust the trim pots to set the local source input sensitivity. Local source audio devices should have a variable audio output — use the device's own volume control to change the speaker volume level.

    Using the A0240 with HP-300 / HP-350 HomePlug Devices

The A0240 pairs well with Channel Vision's HomePlug audio devices: the HP-300 transmitter distributes an audio source through the home's electrical wiring, and the HP-350 receiver outputs that audio to an amplifier such as the A0240. Use the remote provided with the HP-350 to adjust speaker volume levels.
