Chamberlain KLIK3U/KLIK5U Universal Remote Control — User Manual

Complete user manual for the Chamberlain KLIK3U-BK2, KLIK3U-SS, KLIK5U-BK2, and KLIK5U-SS Universal Remote Control. Programmable for up to two devices (garage door opener, gate operator, or commercial door operator), each with independent programming.

Safety Warning

If using with residential door openers, this remote must be used ONLY with door openers manufactured starting January 1, 1993 that use photoelectric sensors located near the bottom of the door track.

Important: the remote will activate your door/gate during programming — ensure the door is clear of ALL obstructions. Start with the garage door closed, and make sure the opener has a working light (used as a programming indicator).

Getting Started

Determine whether your garage door opener has a SMART/LEARN button or DIP switches (located on the product or an external receiver). DIP switch programming is only available on KLIK3U models — for DIP switch instructions, see support.chamberlaingroup.com.

Program to Garage Door Openers with a Yellow LEARN Button

1. Start with the garage door closed.
2. Press and immediately release the yellow LEARN button — the Learn LED glows steady for 30 seconds.
3. Within 30 seconds, press and hold the button on the remote you wish to use.
4. Release the remote button when the opener lights blink or two clicks are heard.
5. Test by pressing the programmed button — the opener should activate.

Program to Compatible Garage Door Openers (Non-Yellow LEARN Button)

1. Start with the garage door closed.
2. Remove the remote control cover. Press and hold the program button until the LED turns on.
3. Press and release the SMART/LEARN button on your garage door opener.
4. Select a button to program. Press and release it the number of times specified in the compatibility chart below (ensure the LED stops flashing between each press). The opener will respond by clicking, blinking, or activating.
5. Press the program button on the remote to save.
6. Test by pressing the programmed button — the opener should activate.

To reduce risk of fire, explosion, or chemical burn: replace ONLY with 3V CR2032 coin batteries; do not recharge, disassemble, heat above 212°F (100°C), or incinerate. Dispose of batteries properly.
