    Architectural & Engineering Specs

    The smoke alarm shall be a BRK Model SMI105-AC and shall provide at minimum the following features and functions:

    1. A dual ionization sensing chamber.
    2. Capable of self-restoring.
    3. Powered by 120V AC, 60Hz, with a monitored 9V 10-year battery backup and a solid-state piezo horn rated at 85dB at 10 ft.
    4. A visual LED power-on indicator to confirm the unit is receiving power or is in alarm.
    5. A full-function test button that checks all alarm functions by stimulating the chamber to simulate a smoke condition.
    6. Silence feature to temporarily silence unwanted nuisance alarms.
    7. Two locking features — tamper-resistant locking pins that lock the battery drawer and/or the alarm to the mounting bracket. The battery drawer ships pre-locked so the battery is not discarded prematurely.
    8. Capable of operating between 40°F (4°C) and 100°F (38°C) and 10–95% relative humidity.
    9. A gasketless base for easy installation, capable of keeping the alarm secure over a wide rotation range for true alarm alignment.
    10. A plug-in connector capable of interconnecting up to 18 alarms, 12 of which can be smoke alarms.
    11. Meets at minimum the requirements of UL217, CSFM, NFPA 72, NFPA 101, and ICC.

    Installation

    Installation of this smoke alarm should be performed by a qualified electrician in accordance with the National Electrical Code NFPA 70, NFPA 72, and any other applicable codes or standards acceptable to the authority having jurisdiction. The interconnect wire should be a maximum of 1,000 ft. and rated at least 300V.
