    Full text manual (for reference)

Installation instructions for the BackBoxx Jr™ — a vapor barrier / air-sealing enclosure designed to protect electrical junction boxes and plaster rings from air infiltration and insulation contact in stud wall cavities.

    Installation Steps

    1. Place BackBoxx™ Jr™ horizontally into the stud wall cavity.
    2. Attach BackBoxx™ Jr™ to the outward facing edges of the studs using a staple gun.
    3. Attach the junction box or plaster ring to the stud directly in front of BackBoxx™ Jr™.
    4. Using a sharp knife, make an opening in BackBoxx™ Jr™ above or below the junction box or plaster ring.
    5. Run wire(s) through the opening in BackBoxx™ Jr™, then into the junction box or plaster ring.
    6. Seal the opening around the wire passing through BackBoxx™ Jr™ with an approved sealant.
    7. Attach wall vapor barrier film to the BackBoxx™ Jr™ flanges using approved sealing tape.

    Notes

    • Wires may also be coiled inside BackBoxx™ Jr™ for a future pull-through to the plaster ring at the time of device installation.
    • For protection of wires inside BackBoxx™ Jr™ from spray foam insulation, etc., cut off the end of the long flange at the perforation and staple the Extended Flange™ flap over the junction box (or plaster ring) and the BackBoxx™ Jr™ opening.
