Installation

Installing the Alfred DB1 lock is easy with the BILT mobile app, which provides step-by-step visual installation procedures you can follow on your phone — including how to install the latch and set the handing switch correctly. Download BILT from the Apple App Store or Google Play and search "Alfred".

Top Post

Your Alfred lock may include a 3rd top post in the box, provided for extra security or to compensate for doors that aren't perfectly straight. This post can be removed with a pair of pliers if you don't want to drill additional holes or don't need it. Refer to the BILT installation videos or the included instructions manual for details.

Quick Start Guide

Step 1 — Download the App

Download the Alfred Home app to quickly add, set up, and program your new Alfred lock and accessories. For manual setup, follow Steps 2 and 3 below.

Step 2 — Change the Default Master PIN Code

1. Touch the screen with your hand to activate.
2. Enter "*" twice, then the 8-digit default Master PIN Code (12345678), followed by "#".
3. Enter "1 + new Master PIN code + #".
4. Enter "new Master PIN code + #" again to confirm.

Lock response: Success — 2 beeps, green indicator flashes. Failure — 3 beeps, red indicator flashes.

Note: The Master PIN Code must be changed before any further programming can begin.

Step 3 — Add User PIN Codes

1. Touch the screen with your hand to activate.
2. Enter "*" twice, then the Master PIN code, followed by "#".
3. Enter "2 + User Number (01–20)" followed by "#".
4. Enter the User PIN code (4–10 digits) followed by "#".
5. Repeat the previous step to confirm the PIN code.

Lock response: Success — 2 beeps, green indicator flashes. Failure — 3 beeps, red indicator flashes.

PIN Code Rules

For security, Master and User PIN Codes cannot:

• Use consecutive numbers (e.g., 123456 or 654321)
• Use duplicated numbers (e.g., 111111 or 222222)
• Be included within, or include, other existing PIN codes

Basic Operation

Lock

Press and hold any key on the keypad for 1 second. You can also lock the door by turning the thumbturn toward the door edge.

Unlock

Place your palm over the lock to wake up the keypad, then input the User or Master PIN code and press "#" to confirm. You can also unlock from inside by turning the thumbturn away from the door edge.
