  • Alfred DB1 Series Deadbolt Smart Lock — Unprepped Door Install Template

    September 08, 2026 2 min read

Full-scale door boring template for installing the Alfred DB1 Series Deadbolt Smart Lock with Touchscreen into an unprepped (non-pre-drilled) door.

    Full text manual (for reference)

    Overview

This is a full-scale door boring template for installing the Alfred DB1 Series Deadbolt Smart Lock into an unprepped door (a door that hasn't already been drilled for a standard lockset). Print it at 1:1 scale, wrap it over the door edge, and use it to mark exact hole locations before drilling.

Important — verify print scale: If printing from an electronic file, set the print scale to exactly 1:1. Before drilling, measure the printed ruler (0"–3" / 0mm–75mm) included on the template to confirm the scale printed correctly — an incorrect scale will result in mis-sized or misaligned holes.

    Key Measurements

    Door Thickness Backset
    1-3/8" (35mm) 2-3/8" (60mm)
    1-3/4" (44.5mm) 2-3/4" (70mm)

    Hole Specifications

    • 1" (25mm) diameter hole — for a secondary/auxiliary lock function, if applicable.
    • 2-1/8" (54mm) diameter thru-holes — the standard bore for the main lockset body.
    • 3/8" (10mm) diameter thru-holes (optional) — for mounting screws or a decorative plate, spaced 3-5/7" (94mm) apart vertically per the diamond-shaped measurement guide on the template.

    Installation Notes

    • Fold the template over the door edge along the labeled "FOLD OVER DOOR EDGE" line to align the face-boring marks with the edge-boring mark for the latch.
    • Choose the correct backset (2-3/8" or 2-3/4") based on your door's thickness before marking hole centers.
    • Double-check the printed ruler against a tape measure before drilling — do not proceed if the scale is off.
    • This template is for unprepped (non-pre-drilled) doors. If your door already has lockset holes bored, use the appropriate standard lockset backset instead of this template.
