    Installation and commissioning instructions for the Busch-Jaeger/ABB-free@home® System Access Point (Models 6200 AP-101, SAP-S-2, SAP-S-127.2). This device is the central control and commissioning unit for a free@home smart home installation.

    Safety Warning

    Warning: Dangerous currents flow through the body when coming into direct or indirect contact with live components. This can result in electric shock, burns, or even death. Work improperly carried out on current-carrying parts can cause fires.

    • Disconnect the mains power supply prior to installation and disassembly.
    • Permit work on the 230 V supply system to be performed only by specialist staff.
    • Please read the mounting instructions carefully and keep them for future use.

    Intended Use

    The System Access Point is the central control and commissioning device. It connects free@home participants with a smartphone, tablet, or PC. During commissioning it identifies and parameterizes participants. It additionally executes time and astro programs and serves as the exchange point to switch functions via the free@home app. Only one System Access Point per system is permitted to be installed.

    Mounting

    Stationary surface-mounting in interior dry rooms only. Observe currently valid regulations regarding connection options.

    • The bus line is always inserted on the rear side.
    • Option A: Insert the 230 V power cord, bus line, and CAT wire (optional for LAN) on the rear side.
    • Option B: Insert the bus line on the rear side; install the 230 V power cord and CAT wire (optional for LAN) on the surface and insert on the underside.

    Connection Notes

    • Transmitter and receiver communicate via radio control (wireless models). Range depends on structural conditions — walls, ceilings, steel reinforcement, or metal cladding will reduce range. Keep at least 1 m distance from other high-frequency transmitters (computers, audio/video systems).
    • If installed within a closed metal housing (e.g. switch cabinet), the external antenna (6200 AP/1-WL / SAP-1-WL) should optionally be connected and fed to the outside.
    • Patched CAT wires connect directly via the RJ45 female connector. Use only shielded CAT wires.
    • Installations with a permanent connection outside the unit must have an easily accessible isolating device.
    • Installations with a plug-in connection must have the socket outlet mounted close to and easily accessible from the unit.

    Warning — Risk of short-circuit: Observe spatial separation (>10 mm) of SELV electric circuits from other electric circuits. If the minimum distance can't be maintained, use electronic boxes or insulating tubes.

    Commissioning

    1. All devices of the system must be correctly wired and connected to the bus line.
    2. Recommended: Connect the device via WLAN to a smartphone, tablet, or PC.
    3. Establish the WLAN connection: connect to the System Access Point's WLAN (password on the power adaptor label).
    4. Open web-based commissioning — automatically if the free@home app is installed, via UPnP (network settings → double-click device), or via browser (IP address 192.168.2.1).
    5. The dialog for basic settings starts.

    Operation — LED Indicators

    • [1] Activates/deactivates Access Point mode (WLAN on/off); LED on/off = active/inactive
    • [2] LED on: connected to LAN or WLAN. LED off: no connection. LED flashing: connection in progress.
    • [3] LED green (brief): voltage supplied. LED yellow: device booting. LED green (continuous): device ready for operation. LED off: no voltage. LED flashing: malfunction.

    Reset: Press all buttons simultaneously during the boot-up process.
