Instruction manual for the A&D LifeSource UA-651BLE ProConnect Blood Pressure Monitor with Bluetooth connectivity.

    Full text manual (for reference)

Instruction manual for the A&D LifeSource UA-651BLE ProConnect Blood Pressure Monitor — an oscillometric upper-arm monitor with Bluetooth® wireless data transfer for home use.

    Overview

The UA-651BLE is designed for adult home healthcare use to measure blood pressure and pulse rate. It pairs via Bluetooth® 4.0 LE with a compatible receiving device (smartphone, tablet, or Continua-certified receiver) and automatically transmits measurement data once paired, or stores up to 30 measurements internally when a receiver is unavailable.

    Safety Precautions

    • Avoid extremes in temperature, humidity, direct sunlight, shock, or dust. Clean with a dry or lightly water-dampened soft cloth — never alcohol, benzene, or thinner.
    • The device and cuff are not water resistant.
    • Keep wireless devices (home networking equipment, mobile/cordless phones, walkie-talkies) at least 11 ft. (3.3 m) away, as they can interfere with the monitor.
    • Do not measure blood pressure too frequently — repeated cuff inflation can impair blood circulation.
    • Consult a doctor before use if you've had a mastectomy or have a severe circulatory deficit in the arm.
    • Do not apply the cuff to an arm with an unhealed wound, an IV drip, blood transfusion, or another attached medical device.
    • Never self-diagnose from readings or start treatment without consulting a doctor.
    • Do not use near flammable gases or in high-oxygen environments (fire/explosion risk).
    • Keep away from children — small parts present a choking hazard, and the hose is a strangulation risk for infants.

    Setup

    Batteries

Uses 4 x AA (R6P/LR6) batteries or the separately-sold TB-233 AC adapter. Insert batteries observing correct polarity; replace all four at once (never mix old and new) when the low-battery indicator blinks. Approx. 700 measurements per set of alkaline (LR6) batteries, or 200 with manganese (R6P), at 180 mmHg / 23°C room temperature.

    Pairing via Bluetooth®

    1. Follow the receiver device's manual to put it in pairable mode; place the monitor close to it.
    2. Install batteries or connect the AC adapter.
    3. Press and hold the START button until "Pr" is displayed, then release — the monitor is discoverable for about one minute.
    4. "End" displays when pairing completes. If "Err 10" appears or pairing fails, remove/reinsert batteries and retry.
    5. Communication range is about 33 ft. (10 m), reduced by walls, reinforced concrete, or other wireless devices nearby.

Download the free "A&D Connect" app to pair with a mobile device — see the compatibility list for supported devices.

    Selecting the Correct Cuff

    Arm Size Cuff Part Number
    8.6"–16.5" (22–42 cm) AccuFit™ Plus cuff UA-420
    9.0"–14.6" (23–37 cm) Medium SlimFit™ UA-290
    12.2"–17.7" (31–45 cm) Large SlimFit™ UA-291

Note: the UA-651BLE is not designed to use a small cuff. Arm size is measured at the biceps circumference.

    Taking a Measurement

    1. Wrap the cuff around the bare upper arm (preferably the left), about 0.5" (1–2 cm) above the inside of the elbow, directly against the skin. Confirm the index marker (▷) falls within the proper fit range.
    2. Sit comfortably with the arm supported so the cuff is at heart level. Relax for several moments; don't talk, cross legs, smoke, or drink caffeine within 30 minutes prior.
    3. Press the START button — the cuff inflates automatically. It's normal for the cuff to feel very tight; press START again to stop inflation if needed.
    4. Deflation starts automatically once inflation completes; the heart mark blinks as the pulse is detected.
    5. Systolic/diastolic pressure and pulse rate display when the measurement finishes; the cuff then fully deflates.
    6. Press START again to power off, or let the automatic shut-off turn the unit off about one minute after measurement.

High-pressure measurement: If your systolic pressure is expected to exceed 230 mmHg, press and hold START during the zero blink until the display reads about 30–40 mmHg above your expected systolic reading, then release to begin the measurement.

    Irregular Heartbeat (I.H.B.)

The UA-651BLE still reports blood pressure and pulse even when it detects an irregular heartbeat — defined as a beat varying more than 25% from the average of all beats measured during the reading. Stay relaxed, still, and quiet during measurement. Contact your physician if the I.H.B. symbol appears frequently.

    Troubleshooting

    Problem Possible Cause Fix
Nothing on display when powered on Batteries drained or misaligned Replace batteries; check +/- orientation
Cuff doesn't inflate Low battery voltage Replace all batteries with new ones
Device doesn't measure Cuff not applied properly, or arm/body moved Reapply cuff correctly; stay still and quiet
Readings too high/low Cuff position, weak/irregular heartbeat, or clinical apprehension Sit comfortably with cuff at heart level; home readings often differ from clinic readings due to reduced apprehension

If these steps don't resolve the issue, contact your dealer. Do not attempt to open or repair the device — doing so voids the warranty.

    Maintenance

Do not open the device — it contains delicate electrical components and an intricate air unit. Contact your authorized dealer or A&D customer service for technical assistance and spare parts.
