Instruction manual for the A&D LifeSource UA-651BLE Deluxe Connected Blood Pressure Monitor — a Bluetooth-enabled upper-arm monitor that syncs readings to a smartphone via the A&D Connect app.

    Overview

The UA-651BLE is one of A&D Medical's most advanced home blood pressure monitors, combining ease of use with accuracy and Bluetooth 4.0 LE wireless data transmission. This device is designed for use in the home healthcare environment to measure blood pressure and pulse rate of adults for diagnosis — it is not intended for infants.

    Safety Precautions

    • Avoid extremes in temperature, humidity, direct sunlight, shock, or dust
    • Clean with a dry/damp soft cloth and neutral detergent only — never alcohol, benzene, or thinner
    • Avoid tightly folding the cuff or storing the hose twisted for long periods
    • Device and cuff are not water resistant
    • Measurements may be distorted near TVs, microwaves, cell phones, X-ray, or other strong electrical field sources
    • Do not modify the device
    • Do not apply the cuff to an arm with another medical device attached, an unhealed wound, or one receiving an IV drip/blood transfusion
    • People with severe circulatory deficit in the arm should consult a doctor before use
    • Do not self-diagnose or begin treatment based on results — always consult a doctor
    • Do not use near flammable gases or in high-oxygen environments (fire/explosion risk)
    • FCC ID: VPYLBVZ. Complies with FCC Part 15 rules

    Installing / Changing Batteries

    1. Remove the battery cover
    2. Remove the used batteries from the compartment
    3. Insert new batteries taking care that polarity (+/-) is correct
    4. Replace the battery cover — use only R6P, LR6, or AA batteries

Caution: Do not mix old and new batteries — this may shorten battery life or cause malfunction. Replace batteries at least two seconds after the device turns off. Remove batteries if the device won't be used for a long time (they may leak).

Connecting the Air Hose & AC Adapter

Insert the air connector plug firmly into the air socket. To use AC power, insert the AC adapter plug into the DC jack, then plug the adapter into an electrical outlet (AC adapter part # TB-233, sold separately).

    Bluetooth Wireless Function

This monitor connects via Bluetooth 4.0 LE to compatible devices, including iPhone/iPad/iPod (iPhone 4S or later) and other Bluetooth 4.0-compatible apps/devices. Download and install the "A&D Connect" app on your mobile device and follow the in-app instructions to connect.

    Pairing Tips

    • Turn off all other Bluetooth devices when pairing — multiple devices cannot be paired simultaneously
    • The monitor communicates with only one receiver device at a time; pairing a third device unpairs the oldest connection
    • Use in a location with good line-of-sight between devices — range is reduced by walls, especially reinforced concrete
    • Avoid pairing near Wi-Fi routers, microwaves, or other RF sources — this can cause dropped connections or slow speeds

    Pairing Procedure

    1. Set the receiver device to pairable status per its manual; place the monitor close to it
    2. Install batteries or connect the AC adapter
    3. Press and hold the "START" button until "Pr" is displayed, then release
    4. The monitor is discoverable for about one minute; it displays "End" once pairing completes
    5. If "Err 10" appears or pairing fails, remove the batteries (or disconnect the AC adapter) and repeat steps 1–4

Communication distance is about 33 feet (10m), reduced by surrounding conditions. If the receiver can't get a signal, up to 30 measurement sets are temporarily stored on the monitor and transmitted automatically on the next successful connection — the oldest data is deleted once 30 sets are exceeded. The monitor's built-in clock auto-syncs with the receiver device (no manual clock adjustment).

    Selecting the Correct Cuff

Cuff size is printed on each cuff along with an index/proper-fit-range marking. If the index falls outside the printed range, contact your dealer for a replacement cuff. The cuff is a consumable — replace if worn. Note: the UA-651BLE is not designed to use a small cuff.

Arm Size Recommended Cuff Part Number
    9.0"–14.6" (23–37cm) Medium SlimFit™ UA-290
    12.2"–17.7" (31–45cm) Large SlimFit™ UA-291

Taking a Measurement — Notes for Accuracy

    • Sit comfortably; support the measurement arm so the cuff center is level with your heart
    • Relax for several moments before measuring
    • Remove constricting clothing; place cuff on bare arm
    • Unless directed otherwise, use the left arm
    • Do not talk during measurement; do not measure right after exercise or a bath
    • Avoid smoking or caffeine for at least 30 minutes prior
    • Don't cross legs; keep feet flat on the floor
    • Compare readings taken at the same time each day
    • Consult a physician before use on a child — never let a child use it unattended

Irregular Heartbeat & Pressure Bar Indicator

The UA-651BLE still provides a reading even if it detects an irregular heartbeat — defined as a beat that varies 25% from the average of all heartbeats measured. Contact your physician if this indicator appears frequently. The Pressure Bar Indicator on the display shows measurement progress: pressurizing, inflation complete, and releasing air.

    Troubleshooting

    Problem Possible Reason Recommended Action
Nothing on display when powered on Drained/misaligned batteries Replace all batteries; check +/- alignment
Cuff does not inflate Low battery voltage Replace all batteries with new ones
Device does not measure / readings too high or low Cuff not applied properly, or movement/incorrect position during measurement Apply cuff correctly; stay still; keep cuff level with heart
Reading differs from clinic measurement Normal variation, or weak/irregular heartbeat Remove and reinsert batteries; take another reading

If the problem persists, contact your dealer. Do not attempt to open or repair the device — doing so voids the warranty.
