How Surge Protection Works

Inside the Studio2.4 is a metal oxide varistor (MOV). When incoming voltage exceeds 120 volts (standard), it acts like a relief valve, diverting the excess voltage away from your connected electronics.

Studio2.4 Anatomy

• (4) Horizontal AC Outlets – Outlets are tipped sideways to keep the unit compact and to accommodate outlet plugs of different shapes.
• Dual 90° AC Outlets – Fit large/oversized plugs.
• Dual USB Charging – 2.4 Amps / 12 Watts total, shared across both ports; can charge two devices at once.
• Advanced Surge Protection – Absorbs surge/transient voltage before it reaches connected devices.
• Blue "Protected" Light – On means the unit is functioning normally and has not absorbed a disabling surge. If it goes out, the surge protection has been sacrificed to protect your electronics — replace the unit.
• Green "Grounded" Light – Confirms the wall outlet the unit is plugged into is properly grounded. If this light doesn't come on, try a different outlet.
• Center Mounting Screw – Used to anchor the Studio2.4 to the wallplate on outlets that have a center screw (most standard outlets). If your outlet uses a decorator-style plate without a center screw, this can be left unused (see setup step 4 below).

USB Charging

Most multi-port USB chargers (including this one) share power output from a single source — think of it like a pipe with several faucets: the more devices you charge at once, the less power flows to each individual device. The Studio2.4's two USB ports share a combined total of 2.4A / 12W.

• Fastest single-device charge: Plug in only one device at a time.
• Charging two devices: Plug in up to two smartphones, or one smartphone and one tablet, at a time — both will charge, just at a shared/split rate.

Quick Setup

1. Remove the screw from the wallplate covering your existing wall outlet. Do not remove the wallplate itself — just hold it in place.
2. Align the Studio2.4's plug with the wall socket. Note: if the wall outlet is installed upside down, or installed horizontally, flip the Studio2.4 to match its orientation.
3. Make sure the mounting screw on the Studio2.4 is aligned with the hole in the wallplate, then use a Phillips head screwdriver to firmly secure the Studio2.4 in place. Do not over-tighten — you should be able to slide the unit in and out without excessive resistance once the screw is snug.
4. If you have "decorator-style" wall outlets (no exposed screw hole to use), simply hold the little red tab on the underside of the unit in place and back the mounting screw out with a Phillips head screwdriver. Then plug the Studio2.4 in directly — it will cover the outlet without needing the screw.
5. Plug your devices into the Studio2.4's outlets and USB ports.

Safety Warnings

• Use indoors only. Do not use near water.
• Do not plug an extension cord, power strip, wall tap, or multi-outlet adapter into the Studio2.4.
• Do not plug the Studio2.4 into an adapter, but only into a grounded outlet (the type with three holes).
• Do not plug in devices whose combined load exceeds the unit's electrical ratings (15A, 125V, 1875W).
• Do not use the Studio2.4 with a heater, generator, convection oven, conventional oven, microwave, sump pump, water-related device, life support device, medical device, or vehicle battery charger.
• Stop using the Studio2.4 if either indicator light is not on (see Studio2.4 Anatomy above).
• Do not attempt to alter or repair the Studio2.4.

Wall-Mounting Notes (UL Statement)

Caution:

• To reduce the risk of electric shock, disconnect power to the receptacle before installing or removing the unit. When removing the receptacle cover screw, the cover may fall across plug pins or the receptacle may be dislodged.
• Use only with a duplex receptacle having a center screw.
• Secure the unit in place with the screw provided.
