Rack Mounted Central Network Hub

The Global Caché Global Connect, RMT is a rack mounted modular network hub that is capable of providing universal connection and control over multiple devices that operate with different communication protocols. This Global Connect RMT Model includes Power over Ethernet, Bidirectional Serial connections, IR Emitter and IR Blaster modules, and Contact Closure Relays.

Dual Ethernet Network Module

The Dual Ethernet Network Module has 2 Ethernet ports and a power connector. The module supports Power over Ethernet and network switching. Network switching capabilities allow for daisy-chaining of multiple Global Connect units, or connecting Raspberry Pi software to your network.

Bi-directional Serial Module

The bidirectional Serial module features a male DTE (Data Terminal Equipment) DB9 connector in order to connect RS232 devices to your local network using serial cables. Connected serial devices can then be configured by using Global Caché's simple and highly configurable online web interface.

3 IR Output/ 1 IR Sensor Input

Infrared (IR) modules can interact with any device that use IR transmissions, such as TV remotes. The module includes 3 IR transmitters, or "blasters", and 1 IR Emitter Sensor Input. The IR blasters send signals up to 35 feet to IR receivers. IR Emitters act as "shortcuts" for delivering IR signals to IR receiver by mounting directly onto receivers and converting signals sent over the Internet to selected device. These IR emitters have a range of around 1 inch (2.5 cm). It is important to place the IR emitters directly on top of the IR receiver of the controlled device. This allows IR commands to bypass any latent signal interference.

Contact Closure Relays

Contact closure relays use a simple dry contact to trigger a relay event by controlling power delivered to voltage or contact inputs. The Global Connect allows you to remotely trigger relay events from your PC or web-connected device. To switch a relay, press the desired ports toggle to turn it On or Off. The relay will change to the set state.

Installation Details

The Global Connect RMT is designed to mount into a server rack. Connect Global Connect to your home network via Ethernet. Connect Global Connect to your home network via Ethernet.

Global Caché Global Connect uses an online web tool to set up and configure each module installed in the Global Connect chassis. Additionally, Global Caché has a list of partner apps and software that can integrate with their online web tool and even allow for remote control of your connected devices.

To configure the Global Connect, download and run Global Caché's iHelp program. The program will detect the individual IP addresses for each of the modules installed. Select the module you wish to adjust settings for and apply the relevant changes.
