INFRARED CONTROLLER LEARNS 250 IR COMMANDS!

INFRARED XPANDER

The JDS Infrared Xpander is a multi-function 2-way learning infrared controller that can learn up to 250 IR commands (expandable to 500) from existing remotes. Four zoned outputs drive up to 16 IR emitters. Optional status sensors detect on/off state of TV, VCR, etc.

The Infrared Xpander has 2 user-selectable modes of operation: 1) Xpander Mode for use as an add-on to HomeBase, JDS TimeCommander or JDS StarGate controller via the auxiliary port and, 2) Serial Mode, for direct control using a computer (ASCII) via the RS232 port.

The JDS Infrared Xpander features the following:

  • Xpander mode - For use with the JDS line of controllers, such as the Stargate and Stargate-Lite. The system can be programmed to issue any combination of IR commands in response to a variety of input conditions.

  • Serial mode - The Xpander connects directly to a PC or any device capable of sending /receiving ASCII commands via a serial port.

  • Two-way IR control - In addition to sending IR commands, the Xpander can also respond to IR commands from any IR remote. For example, pressing the TV POWER ON button on a remote can be made to dim lights, close the drapes, etc.

  • Easy IR learning - The event manager software includes an IR set-up menu that simplifies the learning and programming of IR commands into the schedule. Once the IR commands are defined in the IR set-up menu, simply click LEARN and the Xpander prompts you to aim the remote at the Xpander's front panel, and press the appropriate button. The Xpander also has a frequency selection option for learning IR commands from remote controls that operate at different IR carrier frequencies.

  • Learns 500 IR commands - The Xpander learns and stores up to 250 IR commands and can be expanded with an optional memory upgrade to store a second bank of 250 IR commands.

  • Four zoned outputs - Each Xpaander has four emitter outputs that can be operated in any combination to distribute IR commands to multiple rooms. This allows for multiple control of equipment that respond to the same IR commands.
