PROTECT
YOUR CHILD WITH A DOOR/POOL ALERT SYSTEM
Door Alert/Pool Alarm Notification System
The Door Alert/Pool Alarm Notification System is designed as an
aid to detect unsupervised access to a restricted area, such as
the doorway leading to a pool/spa area, by a small child. The system
uses a magnetic contact switch which sounds an alarm should anyone
too small to manage the cancel-alarm feature attempt access to the
restricted area. The Door Alert/Pool Alarm will sound an on-board
siren when the monitored loop circuit is broken. A seven-second
delay allows an adult to pass through the protected door and press
the shunt/cancel button without the alarm sounding. A normally-closed
magnetic contact (contact provides continuity when magnet and reed
switch is in alignment) installed on the doorway leading to the
restricted area provides the monitoring circuit.

HOW TO INSTALL IT:
Door Alert/Pool Alarm
- Install the Door Alert/Pool Alarm as per local codes or regulations.
Surface-mount the Door Alert/Pool Alarm in a location where the alarm
will be heard. Mount it high-enough so that small children cannot access
the shunt/cancel button.
- Install the 9 VDC battery.
12 VDC Power Supply
- The Door Alert/Pool Alarm can be used with an external power supply.
The 9 VDC battery previously installed will now be used as a back-up
battery in event of power loss.
- Use the hook-up wire to extend the leads of the 12 VDC power supply.
Observe polarity.
- Connect +12 VDC to Pin 1, External Power (+), of the Door Alert, and
Negative to Pin 2, Ground.
- Plug the power supply in a convenient location.
Mini Magnetic Security Contact, Normally Closed
- For this project and ease of installation, the magnetic contact is
surface mounted. Install the reed switch on the door jamb of the monitored
door.
- With the door closed, install the magnet on the door so that it is
directly across from the reed switch.
- Attach hook-up wire and extend to reach the location of the Door Alert/Pool
Alarm
- Verify with an ohm meter that the monitored circuit provides a closed
loop when the door is closed and an open circuit when the door is opened.
- Attach one wire to Pin 2, Ground, of the Door Alert, and the other
to Pin 5, Door Contact.
- Test the following:
- Open the door and verify the alarm sounds after seven seconds.
- Open the door and press the shunt/cancel button on the Door Alert
within seven seconds to prevent an alarm.
SUMMARY
The Door Alert/Pool Alarm is a notification system that monitors unsupervised
access of restricted areas. A door leading to the restricted area is monitored
with a contact switch which causes an alarm to sound if entry is made.
