The TR16 Thermostat is a two-part product, consisting of a Wall Display Unit (WDU) and an HVAC Control Unit. This design makes installation fast and easy. NO NEW WIRES to run to the wall mounted display unit.

WDU: The WDU is the typical thermostat user interface and mounts in the usual thermostat location. It includes a large, easy to read, digital LCD display with continuous backlight, control buttons and temperature sensor.

The WDU also has on-screen setup of sensor calibration, F or C mode, and network address. Includes optional remote sensor terminals.

HVAC Control Unit: The Control Unit is mounted at the HVAC system and allows connection to the communications network in a convenient location without running new wires out to the wall unit.

HVAC System Compatibility:Works with all HVAC systems, both Standard Gas/Electric and Heat Pump, and supports multistage units.

• Central HVAC systems or separate heating/cooling systems with separate RH/RC transformers.
  
• Standard gas/electric HVAC Systems: Two-stage heating. Two-stage cooling.
  
• Heat Pump HVAC Systems: Three-stage heating. Two-stage cooling.
  
• Fan system: Selectable for standard or fan with heat for electric heat systems.
  
• Heat Pump Change Over valve (reversing valve): Selectable for change over with heat or change over with cool (O or B output).
  
• Emergency Heat: In Heat pump mode, Emergency Heat mode is selectable from the wall display unit.
  
• Compressor short cycle protection delay of 5 minutes.

Remote Sensors: The TR16 supports up to 2 indoor remote sensors. It features ôauto detect" of any remote sensor connected and automatically configures the system for their use. The remote sensors have address switches allowing them to be configured as (1) remote only, (2) remote averaged with internal sensor, (3) remote 2 averaged with remote sensor or internal sensor, plus an (4) outside temp sensor. Refer to RCS remote sensors such as the RS15 wall mount sensor.

Serial Communications Interface: The TR16 has RS485 network communications. Communications setup is 9600 baud, 8 bits, no parity and 1 stop bit. Supports RS485 network addresses up to 99 thermostats. Uses simple ASCII protocol supported by virtually all control systems.

Wiring: Wiring between the Wall Display Unit and the Control Unit is four wires, which can be thermostat wiring, Cat 3 or 5 cables. Wiring from the Control Unit to HVAC system is standard thermostat wiring (18Ga, solid), using standard thermostat connections.

RCS COMMUNICATING THERMOSTATS

RCS Communicating Thermostats function as standard thermostats and in addition allow remote commands to set specific temperature setpoints and HVAC modes. Models control standard gas/electric or Heatpump, multi-stage heat and cool.
