HAI UPB POWERLINE INTERFACE MODULE AND CABLE
INTERFACE UPB TO YOUR HOME CONTROL SYSTEM
The Powerline Interface Module (PIM) UPB™ will connect your lighting system to a UPB™ compatible home control system or to a computer, which can then control your UPB™ lights. It comes with a cable for connecting the PIM to a serial port on an HAI Lumina, Lumina Pro, Omni LT, Omni II, Omni IIe, or OmniPro II home control system. The UPB™ PIM to computer cable (HA36A052) is used to connect the PIM to a computer's standard DB-9 serial port for use with HAI UPB™ UPStart configuration software. The status light on the PIM will blink red when it transmits a UPB™ signal on the powerline and it will blink green when it receives a valid UPB™ signal on the powerline. Note: It is normal for this module to make a slight buzzing sound during operation.
When you add an HAI Omni or a Lumina Home Control System to your HLC installation you gain the ability to change your light settings by the time of day, set schedule, by the triggering of events (including motion), via a telephone call, Touchscreen, or by a computer connected to the Internet. When a Home Control System is installed a Scene Switch button may be programmed to run a series of commands, such as setting lighting levels and changing drapery levels.
UPB HOME LIGHTING CONTROL SIMPLIFIED!
All HLC products are UL Listed and use Universal Powerline Bus (UPB™), a digital communications standard for lighting and home control that ensures superior reliability. UPB™ has been extensively tested and researched in residential environments and found to be 99.9% reliable. UPB™ works over existing wires in a home and does not require new wiring.
HLC provides lighting control either room by room or for the whole house. HLC "smart switches" and room controllers provide modular options; set elegant lighting scenes for each room, adding as needs change. HLC "smart" switches and room controllers let you easily set elegant lighting scenes for each room, without the use of complicated software programs. The HLC product line replaces standard "on/off" lighting switches, and gives you the option of saving specific lighting configurations or "scenes" according to time of day or occasion.
With the HAI house controllers, indoor and outdoor lighting can be coordinated and set by schedule, time of day, or event. Have the front door and driveway lights come on at dusk, have all lights come on in the event of a security alarm or fire, set graceful landscape lighting scenes or stylish indoor lighting scenes for entertaining or daily enjoyment.

Requirements and Options: - If you are using an HAI home control system with HLC switches, you must install this part.
- If you are using the HAI Upstart Configuration software you must install this part and a cable to connect your PIM to a computer (HA36A052).
- If your Omni LT home control system does not have an available serial port, use the HLC Expansion Kit for Omni LT (HA36A101) to add another serial port for the PIM to use.
Recommendation: - A Phase Coupler (HA39A001) is recommended for every HAI Lighting Control (HLC) installation
